One of my first runs with swift was to fly , 2 other drivers, to Portland from SLC and pick up a new daycab to bring back. Just on a whim I brought a bag of tools with me. Out of the 3 daycabs, I was the only one that made it back. It was a lot of fun not having all that extra length, but legroom was a little cramped and that was a bouncy truck.
Well, looks like I'm going OTR in a day cab.

If it wasn't for the gout I would be enjoying this. I got to say, OTR daycabbing isn't all that bad. So my number one pet peeve about OTR is something so irrational that I hesitate to say it but here goes. What I hate is having to get dressed immediately following a shower. It's like I can't relax and just hit the sheets you know? Ah, but in a hotel you can do just that. Not bad at all. I could get use to this. But I shouldn't, my truck is fixed (supposedly) and I have a 2400 miler picking up Sunday so back to my real truck I go.

I saw that truck yesterday when I fueled in Cheyenne. Might as well been driving a cabover that hood was so short. Glad to hear your truck didn't get stuck in shop purgatory.
ethos Thanks this. -
I have done the day cab thing with a plywood, it was a 84 ford ltl 9000 done coast to coast trips with that truck pulling a flat bed and i actually enjoy those years.
