the three "just out of driving school" trainees. They had a fair shot; 13 weeks of running with the driver trainers.
One arrived at a customer after 2 days running without the "in transit heat" hooked up. Load ruined and our company had to eat the cost of the load plus get a "black mark" from both shipper and reciever.
One sideswiped a car and kept going.
The third took a wrong turn coming out of a refinery he'd been to about 10 times with the trainer and tried to pull a "U" turn on the 2 lane service road. Jackknifed the tractor into the side of the tanker and into the ditch. Came within a whisker of rolling the tank; the tandems were 2 feet off the ground. $2400 and two wreckers to get him out safely.
I say again; chemical tank is no place for a "beginner". Get your driving skills down pat with less risky equipment first.
Well, we lost our "newbies"...

wow and they do say that bad luck comes in ''threes.......''

Sad part is that none of the driver trainers would "release" them as ready to run alone. Management decided that 13 weeks qualified them. Oooops!!!

Ya, and theyll be on here by the end of the week reporting your company as a horrible place to work LoL.

Companies at fault for hiring the ########s...lol or at least not listening to the people they trust in training the people

Pulling tanks right out of school can be done if you hire the right person to begin with. Sounds to me like these guys would have screwed up anywhere.
Also I hope whoever trained the first guy got held accountable as well. 13 weeks and the guy didn't know about intransit heat and how important it is to read travel orders and shipper instructions on the bill of laden. Thats partially the trainers fault.
When I coached swimming I operated from a mind set I learned from iconic Canadian coach Howard Firby.CDNtrucker Thanks this. -

I can't just say blame the trainers. Management should listen when the trainer say a person is not ready. After 13 weeks? Let 'em go, but they won't because they have money invested now.
Some people just can't learn.Gearjammin' Penguin and RickG Thank this. -

i have made a wrong turn leaving a shipper or delivery before, and if i do not know the area and as long as it is safe, i will throw those flashers on and slowly back up and go in and turn around to make the correct turn LOL
Wargames Thanks this.
