Truck engines are rated at the flywheel. There is generally a 75 horse loss through drivetrain. So 337 rwhp is a pretty healthy 400
Welp, I broke down and gave it my best shot last week.. O/OP rant

Luck changes just like that, can definately be irritating but hopefully it’s fixed, I know I’ve had a few weeks where I wish I could have been lucky to get off paying only 8k In repairs so it could of been worse
Siinman and hope not dumb twucker Thank this. -
You simply don't generate enough revenue from what you do. Your business model is not sustainable and you need to make changes sooner than later.

If you sit for weeks on end and possibly another weeks on end, no business model is going to work.KDHCryo, Opendeckin, Brandonpdx and 1 other person Thank this.

There's freeze frame data. You can see various parameters at the time the code was set. May have flushed out a problem like yours. Clear the codes and check when it sets again for comparison.Siinman and ElmerFudpucker Thank this.

Sorry, but I think you rushed everything from the start, changing injectors in the parking lot is ridiculous.
I know what its like, you get stressed, pushed for time, start making mistake after mistake.
I have been where u have been, one of the most important things to learn as an operator is when to slow down, take a step back and think things through. Made many a mistakes by not following this advice myself.
This is why I both hate doing work on the truck myself, but also hate giving my truck to a shop tech that's just going to throw parts at it until they get lucky.
Live and learn I suppose, been with you, done the same as you before, still get pissed thinking of all the mistakes I have made. LolFeedman, D.Tibbitt, RushmoreTrucker and 3 others Thank this. -
Just don’t go to Wisconsin if it’s forecasted to be subzero temperatures. hell I’ll sit for a few days rather than go into that. I don’t like snowstorms and salt either but hey, the good news is that the worst part of winter only lasts a couple months but during those months I tend to go where decent weather leads me even if I don’t typically like going that direction.

I have never lost any down time on my truck. Have 435K miles on it and always been planned or fixed same day if an issue came up on the road.FloridaRetired and Tug Toy Thank this.

It seems that there are three ways to go, where two are equally good and the third one seems to be more problematic then it initially seems.
1. Operate pre emision truck, either glider or 2004 or older (even better if older pre 2000 to be ELD exempt). Something that K. Rutherford used to preach on his show. The problem is you have to spend time and money for never-ending maintenance and never-ending repairs. If you can’t do most of it by yourself, then the cost and down time may be too much to take. This option is best for those with a big back yard at home, where they can drink beer and do wrenching themselves with help of a good buddy mechanic's help.
2. Brand new truck. That requires a good financial standing for credit and down-payment and then depending on the latter, payments around $3000 - $3500 every one month times 60. There still could be cases heard where some unfortunate buyers need to frequent dealerships after the big investment where they must wait for their turn to be provided service.
3. It may be tempting to get a 5 year old truck with 400 000 - 600 000 miles on it for $50k today and thinking that up to 2 grand a month payments you can manage but these trucks are problems that cost you $20 000 a year for maintenance of both mechanical and emission system issues for the rest of life of the truck.
One could think about deleting a used truck but with that, other than getting caught, if you are down on a trip due to some engine failure codes and they must hook up to your ECM, they may not be able to help, if not flat out refuse to work on it.Last edited: Nov 13, 2025

I'd like to know how to do that.
I have the latest version of DDL8 and some internet sources say "show me the log file", which I'm assuming your talking about.
If you could PM me or post how to read that, that would be helpful. Because even though the log file and freeze frame is stored in the MCM, any major dealership I've been to won't download that unless the fault is active and the truck is towed in, in derate mode. They don't want to fix the issue, and are not going to investigate unless the code is active.
If PTG Freightliner South Dallas would have read through the log file when I dropped the truck off at the shop and told them it was misfiring on bank 4,5,6, and throwing codes, maybe they could've fixed it. No, they said, no active code, we need a dyno run, and the dyno run produced nothing, cause whatever is wrong needs an hour to heat up to produce the short. We can't reproduce, here's your bill.
I don't bring the truck to the dealer because I like giving away thousands, and it's amazing to me that service writers think I'm there for fun.Last edited: Nov 18, 2025
