I went through TMC's orientation and basically I decided I had no desire to join them. I do not care how great a company is hyped by others, if I want to be on your team, I will not join you. I will not go into all the details, they are good for some, but myself, I saw their orientation as a big pile of hypocrital bullcrap that could have been wrapped up much sooner, and the saftey issue really pissed me off. In my class I was shown many pics of TMC drivers, they died falling asleep at the wheel, I felt bad seeing it, I felt bad seeing guys in the same seat I was in dead for in TMC's words, putting a price on their life by driving illegal, then 2 days later TMC teaches me logs, I work 10-12 hours and I only log 5-6.
I cannot join a team like that. You cannot make an example of a man in the same seat I was in dieing for working too long, then teach me to work long hours and only log 6 during log training, and that is just one of many reasons I left TMC after training.
Now onto Roehl, a possible next candidate, I have heard they are a good company with actual real good hometime with different options, I hear they are safe, and I would appreciate any info you guys have on them, because I do not want to sign with another TMC and go home again, because it wastes the companies time and mine. Like many I picked a bad fit for me with company #1 for my own reasons, but Roehl right now is looking like company #2, and any info on them, or any other good hometime safe companies would be appreciated.
Money is not #1 to me. Good hometime and safety is, so I am looking a Roehl, but if you experienced fella's know of another company feel free to tell me about them.
Went ot TMC, decided to pass, how is Roehl?

IMO, I think CFI and Roehl both are good companies and have good reputations. TMC seems like a decent company, but their safety rating concerns me.

You guys interested in TMC should also know your orientation class will start with about 40 guys and wind up with 10-20 before orientation ends. TMC tests and cuts people left and right and many quit as well. Do not go to TMC thinking you are hired, it is a 2 week interview. Every guy in my class was stunned when they found out what they thought they were going too, and what they really went too were completely different. They spung on us at the end of orientation, by the way, we will try to get you 1 weekend off during the 6 week training, so the 8-10 students get home every weekend is BS as well. Not 1 guy in my class got more than 1 weekend, yet they claim 8-10 get every weekend. Another side not, any damage to your truck has a 300 dollar deductable. So lets say you hit a curb and pop a tire and damage a rim, 600 dollars comes out of your check. 300 for the tire, 300 for the rim. All of this is 100% true about TMC so if none of this is okay with you, do not waste your time fella's.
Roehl does not have very good hometime packages in Detroit, so they are kinda not in my picture, I really have no idea who can get me good hometime in Detroit really. Thanks for the info on CFI, I will have to check them out.
Any suggestions for good hometime for michiganders would still be appreaciated. -
