Went the truthful route

I would have said I'm taking care of depression with time meaning no meds I'll get better with time.I've been on a depression roller coaster every since my father passed 5 months ago and doing this alone but I will not take anti depressants because I know in time I would get better and I have.Just keep in mind it may be awhile before a company hires you simply because you're too honest.Not many companies appreciate that.But keep us posted how it goes with your job search.

 

When I got hired with Crete in 2008, they had a question on the application if I ever used an illegal drug . I answered yes.
Never heard a peep about it, and they hired me.
The last time I smoked pot was back in 1995
If I had to answer the question today, I'd probably just answer no so I wouldn't have to put up with any bs

 

As with military recruitment, you should answer honestly, answer only the questions that you are asked, keep your answers brief, and do not volunteer information.

What's going on behind the scenes, is an evaluation of the risk that you represent, probably by some insurance actuary. Honesty may or may not count in your favor. Drug use (especially recent) is a knock against you. Mental disorders are also a knock against you. Dishonesty, if they catch you at it, is a big knock against you, and probably a deal-breaker. If they don't want to know, they won't ask. If they want to hire you, they will try not to know reasons why they shouldn't.

 

I doubt Swift will hire you since they are now under management of Knight Transportation.
Knight does hair follicle test also, but maybe Swift doesn't yet, but will in the near future.
Maybe you'll luck out, but you should have taken advice before signing your name on the dotted line.
A recent post, maybe last week, a driver at Swift orientation admitted he smoked pot within the last 6 months, and was sent home.

 

I thought that was other way around. Swift bought out knight?

 

I read an article on it, but don't remember all the details. Swift and Knight merged and will be under Knight management because Knight is known for efficiency. Investors like Knight's management style and policies concerning finance.

 

These companies are going to lie to you left and right and then give you the middle finger when you ask them about it. Don't disclose it anymore in the future. If they can't detect it, it never even happened.

 

You are going to significantly limit who you can work for by playing high and mighty honest approach when it comes to weed in this industry. Why ,Why ,Why ,Why on earth would you feel compelled to say you smoked weed in the past???? When you get to Swift and you say you Just smoked weed 4 1/2 months ago , your gone man. You would have been better off to say you huff paint or snort dog crap than to admit to weed in your past. If you are now clean and can pass a piss test then Its no ones business it's in your past, leave it there..

I'd start over and forget Swift. He's going to have to explain why Swift canned him.
