"Its to late" - before I have kids and a house.
My age? - well I've been farming for my family since I could ride a horse(10ish)? Ive ran a shop when we had our utility company putting fiber optic in the ground, Running a horizontal directional drilling machine, oh how I love being pinned in a 6ft trench at the age of 16.oh and all those late nights with grandpa at the shop making sure those 13 buses got kids to school.. Then losing it all when grandpa died for give me for deciding to work for myself.lol QuickBooks great stuff for accounting. Yup I hate the government they let you take mileage off but you can't take fuel off. Okay done ranting.
Now trucking experience. lol I learned to drive old c60-c70s and in a kw day cab/kw cabover lowboy(also my grandpas) during my off time to see my dad he picked me and my brother up to go with him normally he pulled drywall out of shoals down to nashville, or coils sometime shotgun others suicide. He did that 42years.... he taught me and 2 weeks after bring 18 poof Cdl In my pocket. No school no pull ups on test. Cdl tester shut his eyes the last mile.lol
Don't dog me anymore yet... lol look up in.gov/entitly
Then on that page search type m.l.Allen & sons inc. You'll see my dad, brother and me. I'm in charge of the money and construction side my handicap brother has concepts he does the mowing side that way he has something.
People that make the comments you two made are still in trucking for a reason. Saying what you said is proof trucking isn't what it was. A brotherhood people helping people. Now its filled with people shooting people down. If your a big trucker give advice suggest but trying to put people down like you did is the reason we are frowned apon and why I'm getting out.
Sorry for mistyping I had to reply on my cell phone. I'm putting a clutch in for a o/o. -
No offense taken. I made a mistake dads been in it 37years and I have my log books for 3.5years in a rubber made container for me.I keep everything for 3years for tax reasons. My mom worked writing loans at a bank guess that's where I get my accounting side of things.

Taxes- they let you take mileage off but you cant take fuel off on your taxes. Every morning i leave my house i stop and fuel up or buy something i need like ice or something cheap. Thats considered a business stop... Because in reality you cant take mileage off on your taxes until you get your first load or fuel. For example: my loads 30miles down the road that mileage isnt deductable because your "commuting" to work but you stop and buy a pen or bag of ice for your cooler 1 mile into the trip that means 29miles to your load is tax deductable. kind of off subject. Sorry i wasnt on point before.

you do know that fuel is the one BIGGEST exspense that you do RIGHT OFF. i gross over 200 grand last year, and if i couldnt have wrote off my fuel bill of 60,000.....id be a litttle upset. i'm not sure just exactly what you mean or if you just dont know that facts, but any it cost you money to do the job, thats called an expense, and if most deff. is a write off when your self employed like an owner operator.
i'm not sayin because your wrote fuel off that makes it free like some tend to think on certain write offs, but it lowers you total gross that your gonna be taxed on. iif i didnt write off that 60,000....then that would be 60,000 that i would be paying taxes on......it would up my total taxable income.
also, unless your exempt in indiana and a few other states, your payin tax on diesel fuel at the pump. i'm not sure if your getting that confused with you actual income tax or what....good luck to you though.
