Do you remember simply leaving a note on the counter saying where you went? For example "bike riding with friends, be back soon." Those were better times.

    • A 13 billion aircraft carrier is a sitting duck to a $1,000 self-replicating drone with swarm tactics. A trillion-dollar defense budget means little if the opponent’s weapons outthink and outmaneuver you at zero notice. It’s the same way knights in armor became obsolete when muskets appeared, but at a much more extreme scale. It won’t be long before A massive buildup of military hardware is obsolete. It won’t be long before an entity like the cartel can build and design weapons with artificial intelligence. They could make our massive trillion dollar military obsolete. It’s only a matter of time before everything is obsolete. Live another 10-20 years and you’ll see it happen right in front of you.

Oh yeah! Parents would leave notes on the counter so we would take dinner out of the freezer when we got home from school.. then it was go out on the bikes and ride around the neighborhood, going to see if my friends were doing anything.. maybe go down to the grassy field to play football.. then once those streetlight came on it was time to go home... Amazing that wasnt that long ago but feels like a lifetime

Memory and time sense is a funny thing because, yes, it was that long ago. So your feeling of it being a lifetime ago is more correct.
Not that long ago a lifetime was 60 years or less.

No way, they'll be floating in their swimming pools before they live like peons. They live in a different world than us, seriously, I doubt many that spend what I make a month on lunch, could ever fathom what it's like to be broke. The bottom will surely fall out, just like mom precicted 20 years ago, but it will be a while. The almighty dollar is and will be for years to come, a precious commodity they won't give up easily. The upside is maybe I'll be able to buy a classic car again,,,let's watch,,o_O

Not always. Lots of them overspend and rely on credit. And peons like us to make them money. It’ll be interesting to see though.

With trucking there's always going to be final mile delivery and touch freight jobs that either can't be automated or don't have enough financial incentive to be automated.

For coast to coast OTR type of trucking, I can see that becoming more automated if there is enough financial and government incentive, but I don't think it'll happen in the next 50 years.

I used to think exactly how you do right now with this topic. Obviously, you and I arn’t listening to the same stuff or reading the same stuff because I can tell you it’s coming much much sooner and much more fast and advanced than most people realize. This is not a progressive thing. This is an overnight thing that’s going to hit us. The intelligence and the capabilities is a compound effect like 2+2 is 44+4 is eight it doubles in speed and the developers themselves don’t even know how this stuff is advancing so fast in this freaking them out. You’re going to have automation that can create its own self repair. It’s on self, analyze its own self and advance its own self. It won’t even need us at all.
