Werner claims that they have a heart for VETS. I have a split service, I was enlisted, Active Duty for 9 years. I was an officer in the Reserves for 2 yrs. They were "suspicious" my supervisor from my reserve time said when they called him. I was shocked when he called me about it. The recruiter was frankly rude to me as I tried to explain to her that by the REGS a reserve officer does not get a DD214 from the Reserves.
Werner is a gamble for a new driver to begin with, but to suspect ones DD214 and Reserve Discharge is insulting.
Now a Marine may have a better time there, as the recruiter stated that two of the execs were Marines. She explained that they know all about DD214s. Apparently they do not know all there is to know.
I am not sure if working for egg heads (Know it alls) is the way to go.

Officers paperwork is allways different, just like the ORB and what not, the officers are suposed to be seperate from the troops. My issue is that this happened to you of course, but also that you let it happen to you. You of all people should know that if you get knocked back at that level you go higher untill your talking to the command general or his wife if hes playing golf.

Now I had DD214's for all years served)( iwas enlisted)
But 3 years ago I was going through all of my fathers papers as he had passed away,in there me and my brothers found it very interesting reading that he had kept all of his DD214's from 26 years of service(He was a career officer)
I dont understand as to why you wouldnt have a DD214 only thing I can think of is that your still in the Reserves and DD214's are only generated for periods of service -
DD214 is a release from ACTIVE duty............

Battle; Officers and enlisted are not treated differently in this regard. A DD214 is given to either and states your level of discharge. As 123456 stated--it is for separation from ACTIVE duty. A reservist might be keep inactive for years--hence no separation. The recruiter is wrong. Maybe all of us vets should keep calling Werner until they figure it out.

Werner does verify everything you tell them by calling all references. My son's been OTR no home-time with them since 1/3/11,currently in California. His recruiter claims that one of his references gave a different version than the one my son listed on his application,I called the past employer and he said no-one from werner ever contacted him.I called the recruiter and he blamed the mistake on his office assistant;all is well and he's still rolling with them.

According to Army Regulation:
DD214 are discharges from Active duty only. Reserve and National Guard do not get one.
I believe Reservists only get a DD256A (Discharge Certificate). Guard soldiers get a NGB Form 22.
AR135-178 applies to Reserve discharges. You only get an Order and a certificate, depending on the characterization of the discharge.
AR635-5 Chapter 2 spells out who gets a DD214. An Army Reserve enlisted soldier just ETS-ing (i.e. not coming off mobilization, ADSW, AGR, etc.) doesn't get one.
Now a Reservist or NG can recieve one if they have served under activated orders. As a Chaplain Candidate I was not activated as I was not FMC yet and still going through the program. However I did get to play weekend Chap Daddy and drill with a unit for those two years before I applied for Active Duty Chaplain- the military is downsizing again- so not they have to many Chaplain Candidates for the Chaplain slots that are available.123456 Thanks this.
