Utsthe quickest way to ho from newbie to fired for 3 "wrecks" in 2 months of driving I kniw of. Those accounts have no room for trucks & you have no backing experience. You will eventually damage the truck or property & then either be chained to Werner or looking for a job with a poor record. EVERY trucking company is ALWAYS recruiting for Dollar store accounts because turnover is ridiculous.

Dont do it. They want newbies because NOBODY else will do it. It's like walking the plank. It's bound to end badly.

Run from werner, as fast as you can. They are going to put you in a hotel with 50 other people all going insane. You will not have your own car and could wait weeks for a trainer. When you finally get a trainer you will find yourself ran as a team. The trainer will likely be collecting miles off your back. Very little Qualcomm or backing will be offered. You will learn how to drive a straight line for thousands of miles.

So the trainer isn't going to show you how to back much and then you will get put on an account with extremely difficult backing situations.

I went through the training program and decided against going back. I went and got a local driving job for a construction company that pays hourly with allot of rate work 21.69 per hour. Quite happy here.

I think they put green drivers in this account because whatever experienced drivers they might have (Not many) would not go on this account.

They were never off to a good start with me. Told I could NOT take a car, I ended up on the grey dog which I hated. Got to the bus stop and I waited almost 2 hours to get picked up. Lies right from day one. Told I would get on the road for a week before Christmas. I sat and picked my nose for two weeks. Went home for Christmas came back say for two more weeks. Got a trainer, oh but he goes home in a week. I sat again for 2 more weeks. In total I wasted well over a month of my life just sitting. No car, basically a prisoner. The trainer insisted on running me overnights meaning I would have to sleep during the day in a truck bouncing down the highway. I did it one night and almost fell asleep behind the wheel. I refused to drive overnight, he changed when I drive but it was an argument.

I don't think there is much redeeming about Werner enterprises. The recruiters will lie through their teeth.

If they up the offer to $1.00/mile, $100/drop then MAYBE I as a more seasoned driver would consider it. But otherwise, hell no.

That problem is between the Dollar General corporation and the various contract carriers. Not my or your responsibility to help address their problem because they refuse to provide the right tools and the right pay.

This is one of the reasons I bailed I was on a dedicated dollar General. I'm not going to have an accident. I realized my mistake for selecting a Werner dollar account, I also wasn't going to live away from home for 800 bucks a week before taxes. They pay their otr drivers crap. I decided to do local driving. I know different stokes for different people.

I think we would agree though avoid the blue screw and stay completely away from the dollar accounts

One more thing. My first trainer was on dollar tree so I got a week 1st hand on that dollar account. The dolts that load the trailers sometimes put the heavy stuff on top which can injure drivers when the heavy crap falls on them. It has happened.

My 2nd trainer was an otr trainer so I was completely unprepared for that account. Don't choose werner, swift would be better and that isn't saying much.

The ONE good thing about cutting your teeth doing Dollar stores? You'll get good or you'll wash out, in an accelerated time frame.

It's the ultimate "crash course". Do that for 9 months, and a trip into NYC will be like a walk in the park.

Very high percentage of wash outs that will leave you with a highly tarnished cdl if you have accidents. Taking a huge risk if you do it.

I have experience doing the trash dumpsters at Dollar General. One other downfall to consider. The people they hire are so low level. All they do is create problems with anyone they deal with. Literally creating lies, out of nothing at all. You'll be guaranteed to be badmouthed, if they're ever allowed to.
