And let's not overlook the fact some school trainer "passed" the student as having acquired basic truck navigation skills, and a state police officer somewhere rode with that driver, and Ok'd that driver to receive a CDL. Lot's of blame to go around.
It would seem the Werner's of the world have enough money, power, influence, and connections, that hiring monkeys to drive trucks is not considered out of the realm of sensible decision-making. They know they will ok plenty of drivers who do not have sufficient skills to operate solo, but this is an acceptable risk to them... can't let any loads go uncovered in coming months.
Werner, do they give road tests when hiring?
