And I didn't mean to trash your idea in any way. Where I was coming from, was that if a company is so uncaring or unconcerned in sensitive manners like this, I wouldn't give them the time of day. They deserve no clarification whatsoever coming from myself. If my word is not good enough, or handled with respect, then excuse me....but screw 'em.
It's just how bad things have become, that the employers of this industry have callous people in charge of their businesses, and apparently there is no professionalism involved when dealing with employees. At the same time, it probably is an indication as well, of the care they take in selecting employees to represent their businesses. You get what you pay for. This is not to say that a decent person get's caught up among all this and is sized up like all the rest, and that's a shame. Every person is unique, and they deserved to be considered as such, until the trust is destroyed in some way to make them like all the rest.
This is the corporate environment. If you are producing, you are okay. If your production is interrupted, you are dirt. Who needs it? I think that there are several examples where large companies can be operated efficiently and at the same time also offer appropriate respect towards their employees. I've actually worked for two that fit that criteria. Crete Carriers and USF Glen Moore. However, I have found that the smaller companies offer the best working environment there is to be found out here. Anything over a 400 truck count usually suffers disconnection problems with their employees, unless it is carefully monitored.
As some of you may be aware, my Grandfather took my Grandmother's life and then took his own last April, USF Glen Moore was extremely gracious towards me, and gave me a week off with no problem. They weren't even concerned that the truck would be down for that amount of time and sitting in my driveway.
Had it been differently, such as demanding that the truck be taken to Knoxville before dealing with the loss, I'd have surely done exactly that, but I would not have returned to work for them.

it actually worked the very first time i used it, now, when i refer back to it, i get a "sign-up" page for the paper, and frankly, i doubt it very much i'd be reading that paper anymore, unlike the Chicago Tribune, which i read with more frequency.

haha i'm lmao rangerman.i know exactly what you mean .this happened to my hubby while working for them.he only stayed as long as he did to get his student loan paid by them.they also hated to pay up,stating that hubby wouldn't get paid for his miles til the loads got where they were going.too bad that took up to 3 weeks in some cases.i don't really think they'd allow a load to take that long to get to it's destination.they were basically just throwing him a few bucks here and there.sometimes after hauling stuff all the way to cali ,i'd get a check in the mail that said "void' when asked they'd say "the load got taken the rest of the way by another driver and it hasn't goten there yet so ur hubby doesn't get paid til it gets there"...lmao tell that to my 3 hungry kids!well thank god he finally told werner to go scratch and then found out they weren't paying his school loan the whole time anyway!
