Would be curious to know if that was a freezing rain scenario or a snow or sleet scenario. You don't drive 50 mph very far on roads where rain is freezing on them. Might have been a transition area which is always a given at some point.

If he was driving 15 mph on wet roads he would have caused an accident there (not freezing). Just goes to prove you're dam'd if you do and dam'd if you don't.

I don't want to defend Werner but let's see.
It's NOT OK for truck driver drive in icy conditions in bad weather, but IT'S OK to drive in same condition in your personal vehicle??? WTF IS THIS???

That was the point. Sadly, Werner might have been better off plowing into people.

Well, this case may have shed a new very bright light on a problem most here will acknowledge - the "driver mill machine" these mega carriers use to support their twisted business model is ruining the "breed stock" for future generations of truck drivers, and is in fact making the roads more unsafe. They spend more money cultivating INexperience then they do promoting longevity in the industry.

Will anyone disagree with this statement?

A driver that maintained control of the vehicle after being stuck by someone who was incompetent on ice. Yeah, that's a good example of how bad things are with the megas.

Apparently you didn't read the BusinessWire.com article that highlighted how the case was presented by the family's law group.

I'm not saying "justice was served". I'm saying perhaps some good can come from this case.

Like the trucker that was rear ended at a stop sign by a drunk driver. The trucker shouldn't have been there if their logs were _legal_?

If this judgement stands, a lot of mega carriers are going to be forced to take a very hard look at how they do things from here forward.
