Been in training for 2 months now. First trainer was goof ball never drove always found something wrong with the trailers we had. Spent a month n half with him I had 70 hours of driving time when I got off his truc. Now I'm a week away from being done with training and my trainer now asked me to operate his truck as a owner op and he would pay me 35cpm. Then in 3 months I will train..
Is this a smart decision or should I be a company driver I know everyone hates werner but I haven't had a real problem other than a lazy trainer...

Whatever you do... Get it in writing and signed by the person saying it.

If even half the lies we hear came to fruition then we'd all be rich and extremely stressed out at the same time...

Far as I'm concerned, you're likely better off working for Werner than some o/o you don't really know. After all, the devil you know is better than the devil you don't.

Don't ride his coat tails; go your own way.
If you like Werner, then become a company driver.

No I said after 3 months they will ask me to and my trainer who wants me to drove his truck wants me to do.
I think it is crazy as he'll werner has trainers that have only been driving for three months bit they do I don't even want to stay here but don't want to ruin my career as a truck driver.

I am not going to do it. Just does not seem like he will make the money to pay me, and if something happens to the truck Then I'm sure he couldn't.
He wants me to drive it so werner doesn't take it back. His wife is ready to leave him and he is going local to save his marriage.
But he did show me his last paycheck and it was over $8000 and he took home 3400

OK, now I understand. I thought you wanted to stay with Werner. Time to leave for a better job and it won't hurt your career. Many companies will jump at the chance to hire you, so put in some applications.
    Freymiller
Earl Henderson Trucking(new pay guarantee & it's good)
    James H. Clark & Son
    KKW Trucking
    Navajo Express
    Danny Herman Trucking

Every one of these companies will offer you a job.

Go ahead and leave. Be honest with the recruiters at your prospective companies. These "trainers" with limited experience are a travesty. The good companies know all about the bad companies. Be upfront and jump to another company.
