Well I will be attending orientation on the 4th of October in Fontana, California and will be keeping everybody updated on my experience. They said there is no openings for 48 states solo so I will be doing western regional solo to start.

Remember that the training is the hard part, but it'll be over before you know it.
Good Luck! Keep us posted about your experience. -
I plan on documenting my time in this thread. I should be getting a laptop soon so i can take it with me and tell you all what is happening.

I'd be interested in hearing about Werner. They don't get a lot of good press, so I think a fresh perspective is in order.
Are you a recent CDL grad, or are you currently attending? -
I just got my cdl last a couple mondays ago so yea i am a recent cdl grad and i thought it was pretty easy to get it but there is still tons and tons of things i need to learn so im very open to learning more to be a good driver
Wedge Thanks this. -
Just in case you haven't, here are a few threads you can read that chronicle 2 students as they go through training and finally to their chosen companies. There is a lot of advice from the senior drivers to "Openroadguy" and "chralb".
I recommend the following threads:
Help a Trucker wannabe out. (Listed under Questions from new drivers forum)
I'm going with Swift
Running with Watkins & Shepard
They are great reads! They're so good that the Mods have locked and docked it. Get some popcorn, cause you'll enjoy it. -
Thanks Wedge I appreciate it I will do that

I used to work for Werner and the story was still the same back then: no trucks and no openings in the division that you prefer to work in. There are always openings in the 48 state division, especially given how big the company is. But depending on your dispatcher, pay special attention to your load plan on your qualcomm. The dispatcher sometimes gives you a load outside of the 11 western states while still paying the sliding pay scale. Not a completely horrible thing, but just giving you a heads up. Its all part of their business model. Have fun out there, drive safe, and smile at everyone. Well, don't smile too hard at least...

But above all, remember - the reason Werner exists is to give the rest of us something to laugh about!

Well every company has it's flaws and I am just doing this to get my experience but I am leaving on the 2nd of october to head to fontana cali where i will start orientation on the 4th
