As long as they're willing to take it, the driver mills will dish it out. Why won't these guys wise up?

Because unfortunately you have to get the experience somewhere and the big companies are about the only ones that will take a rookie with zero experience.

Problem is these companies get rid of many drivers giving them bad DAC reports before they even get experience . If they didn't have so many applications on file they'd have to treat drivers a little better to try to keep them . As long as the have desperate newbies waiting in line they could care less bout a driver being happy .

That is very true, these companies will take advantage no doubt, but what is a new driver to do to get started?? Because of insurance rates they want a driver to have that golden year under their belt. Well when the economy recovers and all these new drivers go back to their original trade, I bet these companies will be scrambling to get drivers in their trucks.

Yes, and the cycle will continue. I may be lookin' through rose colored glasses, but I can't help but wonder if this CVSA 2010 coming into affect won't help alleviate some of this.

I did not hear him say that the new trucks were being outfitted with cameras. I did have him say that they were able to monitor if a trainer was spending the required time supervising the student.

Trying to get into the trucking industry makes about as much sense as trying to go to GM to get a job making Pontiacs or Saturns . Why do you people think you'll get a job when tens of thousands of people have lost their jobs ?
Oh that's right . You'll get a job because every month thousands of newbies quit when they get tired of being shafted week after week .

You must like the industry since you have 30 years behind you. You would not have stayed in it so long if it was that bad, would you???

There's big difference between having years of experience and working for an established carrier paying top rates and being one of tens of thousands of equally inexperienced wannabes that will have to accept low rates and low miles if they get hired at all .

Be very CAREFUL what you ASK FOR because in this business you might just get it; Like no miles, living in extreme cold WX and being told not to idle and living off the truck stop economy.

What you end up with is a disaster for which you may have ASKED FOR.

OTR companies are a SCAM coming for you.
