Have any of you out here done this program at all. It looks like a sweet deal, but I've been reading a lot about Werner's company sucking overall; lying, stranding, "letting go" for no real reason. I'm in a trucking school and am excited to get my new career as a trucker after 10 years in the Navy. I've been looking forward to switching to this career now for several years now. I just want to make sure I'm making a good decision, and get some "inside" information before I decide to accept job offers from Werner, or any other company for that matter. I'd like to work for Knight Transportation, but the Operation Freedom program is really making me lean towards Werner. Your thoughts please.

I got my CDl back in Nov 2010, and was hired on with squire transportation which is the training company for Knight. After only a week on the road and some issues at home, I decided otr wasn't for me cause I have a family. I then found a local job that was ok, but since I didnt have experience they didnt have much work for me at all. I decided I would have do go otr to earn a decent living and get some experience before going back to local. I asked if Squire would have me back and unfortunately they wont. Now im stuck trying to get on with another otr company cause I made a mistake leaving in the first place. I highly recommend knight over werner, After your training period with squire and move on to knight you start making .35 cpm, which is a hell of a lot better than werner's pay scale. I am also a veteran who served 8.5 years in the Air Force. I was medically discharged for a back injury which is making it hard to get a job. I apologize for the length just thought Id give you my opinion. Hopes this helps.
