Many convicted felons who have been clean longer than some people have been alive also face that same issue.
I personally have never smoked, never used drugs, and have never been arrested for or convicted of any crimes.
However, I can empathize with someone who cannot get ahead due to situations in their backgrounds from very long ago. Certain mistakes or errors or judgements can still hamper your ability to get decent employment at decent wages, even though you have NOT committed any crimes or immoral acts at all.
Good luck to you!

there were drivers that had completed leases and stayed
some company drivers been there for a long time
back to the days of loose leaf and dont get in our way
there were a few guys had multiple trucks leased on
pretty much the whole gambit
the business model appears to be just fill the seat these days
but as i said get your experience and move on
use them like they use youmje Thanks this. -
you cant get fired if you dont get hired.
gee, do you think a big trucking company would never lie to you?? -
I also agree with your statement, I've talked with some young men/woman that get upset when they can't get hired because of their passed youthful transgressions, when I ask them "how long has it been sense you stopped use preferred drug? Lots of times the answer is, "it's been for ever! Almost a year!" We'll companies don't see near a year as a long time, if someone that used to smoke Marydoyouwanna
But finally has grown up and stopped, and it been a number of years, like say? 10 years, I don't think they should not be chastised for life, my comment was intended for the ones that believe, after stopping months ago, that to me is not enough time to prove you have cleaned up

Whatever happened to the " catch me if you can " truckers ? .....i remember breaking every freakin rule i could break with a good running truck , a good CB and some other black sheep truckers ,who were brave enough to keep up with us .....let me ask this ,how the heck are they gonna find out what you did 20yrs ago ? ....and if they did ,why would you want to work for some control freaks that don't want to pay you right ?

Hard to understand with all the negative publicity trucking gets with regularity that anyone could argue against strict drug requirements. The requirement to have a drug/substance recovery program in your resume after the failed drug test should be the absolute minimum.
How would anyone like to be coming down the Grapevine or Georgtown grade and have a druggie in a loaded tractor/trailer running up their rear end? Not likely......if we have mandatory drug testing and regs for pilots, doctors, train engineers etc why SHOULDN'T trucking have the same type of requirements?fieldchaser Thanks this. -
i totally agree. what ever happened to us against them? this nanny state pc correct society we live in now for the sake of safety is out of control. when your time is up your time is up and it doesn`t matter if you`re flying down the road at 100mph or wiping your butt. this is the whole country i`m talking about, not just trucking. most flapping their lips are hypocrites. nobody is perfect.
