Hey there, I was wondering if any of you know any good companies that hire out of Las Vegas, NV that have APU equipped trucks with inverters (or that allow me to purchase one and they install it for me). I've been trying to avoid refeer since I've never done it before and don't know if i'll handle the noise and extra crap you have to deal with but I might be willing to take it since the end goal is a more comfortable experience. Most of the companies i've seen with apus are reefer lol.
I'd like to mainly run the 11 western and mid/south western states, haven't been to the north east and I'd like to stay that way, don't feel like i'm missing out haha. I have 15 months tractor trailer experience and 9 of them OTR. I manage my time wisely and don't mind running hard. I average 500-650 9-11 drive hours and 12-14 hour work days with no problem. Record is clean (driving/criminal). I am working on getting hazmat endorsed, I am also Canada ready though I've not been there yet, can't say whether I like it or not I like where I work but they don't have apus, if you idle over 18% your truck loses 2mph speed... and they don't allow inverters. I've grown tired of eating at Subway, Tacobell and the ocational mcdonalds.. I hate the pilot food lol and I need to change my diet, so an apu/inverter will help tremendously.
So far the company I might go for is Gordon but I haven't heard many good things about it other than the good trucks/apus which is nice but I don't want to not make money. I might still shoot them an email and see what they offer but I'm holding off to see what kind of feedback I get from here.
I also saw Navajo Express, they have nice t680s with apus but they're reefer and I heard they're owned by swift lol and read some driver reviews and got turned off by it, they say they start at .38 cpm so that's not that bad I'm assuming for my exp level.
I really liked Cox Trucking out of Saint George but I'd have to drive those 2 hours and back for hometime whenever there aren't any loads going south and i'd like to be home. The recruiter said they do have apus but I haven't seen the little fan in the back of their trucks (also haven't seen many of their trucks) I like that they're a small company and their pay package although the start pay is .33-.34 which isn't great. You get .10+ CPM for every mile you hit a month over 10k which is a nice chunk of change, and you also get $100 just for hitting 10k miles a month plus .02 fuel bonus so it's not that bad.. Haven't gone with them because not sure if they have apus or not also since i'd be working out of Utah I'll have to pay their state income tax which NV doesn't have so that's a bummer, don't know if it'll be the same for any other company (could someone explain this to me? cuz if so I might just go with them, they're dry van)
Thanks for reading my post, looking forward to the feedback/suggestions

A lot of the megas have 11west regional, I'd also check out Sky Transport out of El Paso. I've never worked for them, but ran into one of their drivers recently. I would use the job search function on this site, and spend an afternoon calling all the recruiters for details.

Just checked their website.. They don't hire out of Las Vegas, they don't even run into NV
Too bad cuz they seemed like a good place to work for. Advertise 3000 miles a week, that's really good.
PS don't think they offer APUs either, did you read my post? lol -
The Sky Driver I met had a western star with an apu, but all I know about the company is they run west.

Navajo is NOT owned by Swift; that rumor has been circulating for years.
I'll put some names out there and you can check the websites:
National Carriers
Jim Palmer Trucking
Freymiller
Abilene Motor Express - dry van & reefers - no diesel apu but you won't have time to use one anyway from what the drivers post. Long runs $ 100% no-touch freight. They may have inverters & refrigerators.

Check Craigslist.

A&R Logistics has a facility in Las Vegas. I don't think they have an idle policy. Make somewhere between $62k - $72K per year and you can take the truck home if you want.

Hey! thanks for the replies I appreciate them. I liked A&R a lot, might apply with them when I complete my year OTR. I check craigslist regularly but everyone wants 2-3 OTR years and 25+ lol.. don't meet that criteria yet.
Chinatown Thanks this. -
