Hey, is it just me or swift..or is the freight shortage in the west a real problem for everybody?

Its really dry out here. Trucks of my company are sitting everywhere. I just sat for 48 hours until I got a decent load. Delivered that load today. Can't blame the planners or dispatch because theirs no way they will leave more than 7 trucks sitting at a TA for more than 2 days.
Seriously need to get a load East or the midwest and stay out there. West coast is dead for us!

Our company keeps us moving from the west coast. Typically as soon as we deliver, they have something for us to pick up immediately.

I have not noticed any of this and I live in the west, if your company is having a hard time im guessing it has more to do with them then the freight.

Problem is you're hauling the same thing everyone else is hauling. Get in a specialized market, and you will have freight waiting for you when you get there.

Then you don't have to call people for freight, they call you!
When can you pick this up?

How specialized does freight need to be to overcome freight shortages?

I've heard that the dedicated side aren't having a tough time. Its mainly us in the OTR side.

Same here. The only time I had to park at the Ontario truck stops was when I loaded and couldn't scale out on the California setting and had to get reworked the next day. Usually we are in and out.

Lot of freight that moves from Los Angeles to El Paso. It's a way out at least.

Not all companies get stuck on the West Coast or in Florida.
I ran OTR pulling reefers for years and never was stuck in California or Florida.
You're driving for the wrong company; a mega-mega-mega carrier.

Reefers can always grab a produce load. Dry vans have to be a bit more crafty.

Munoz once had me pick up half a load of freeze and eat popsicles from San Bernardino and dry milk from Phoenix going to Economy Cash and Carry in El Paso, which is one of our regular customers.
