only 5-10 in the last 3+ years have been non-ISX trucks, and there are many good reasons for this.
Scooter, most anyone will tell you that the Eaton 13 is wasted in a 60mph truck. But MAY is my boss, NOT Eaton. So they say 1370, 1370 is it. Not to mention the soft rev limiter is 1360.
The engine brake also makes it's most 'power' in the 1800-2100 range, but try and use it up there, and see how quickly you get a nasty-gram on your QC lol
Of course hills etc are a different story. They can and do lok at all that and take that into consideration.
As I just told my student...there are NO hard/fast rules of shifting, only guidleines. uphill/downhill, bobtail/empty/light/medium/max load....all will require a slightly different approach to shifting.

You made my point ;-) There's a big difference between the letter of the law and the spirit of the law. My experience at May is as long as I produce the desired results, noone bothers me, except if I break the law of course.

However, if you want to shine BW shoes every time you go into Brooks, more power to you. JUST KIDDING! :)

I agree on the govenor restrictions too. These trucks are not engineered to be tweaked down to 1370 rpm on the high side.

I like working at May a lot, however, now that I have over 3 yrs under my belt OTR, have seriously been exploring my options with other reputable companies that allow their drivers to go the posted speed limit.

The only side that benefits running the trucks at 60 mph cross country is the company. Which they have every right to do, don't get me wrong. Yet, everything logistically is scheduled based on a lower mph average, which ultimately benefits the company in lower fuel cost, less accidents with rookie drivers, etc. However, it effects the potential income earning stream of the more experienced conscientious driver.

Too be honest, I actually feel like I'm creating more of a hazard driving 60 mph in a 75 mph zone.

Oh, okay. Just wondering since I haven't seen any company drivers driving something as old as you listed in the other thread.

Great! My first truck at May got to over 500k before they put me in something else. I felt like all the "bugs" were worked out and it could easily go another 500k ;-)

Yeah ..I hear ya .. The Cummins do get better Fuel Milage... but when it comes to Durability, gotta be Detroit. My Detroit 60 doesnt leak even one drop of oil. Great Truck, great Engine. But with California CARB comming in 2014. I really have no choice but to get a newer Truck ..
