Id say they are Both Cons and Crooks...
I worked for this company and was fired for doing what I was told...
Long Story............
Anyway
Cons....Gov. funded to gain new trucks and extra pay for recruitting, whether they keep you or not...
Crooks. If you work their and if fired take all your belongings with you no matter what they say, even if they say they will store the things in a secure place untill you can pick them up...........if you don't you will most likely lose everything.....
My experience:Was fired because i did what the recruitter told me to do,we won't go into detail.
BUT they locked my truck and my belongings inside a building so none would be stolen, sent me to Nashville from Hammond,Indiana because they said they needed to go over my application,DUH 2 months later....
Well after I was in Nashville they fired me and said not to return on their property and my belongings would be shipped..
3 months later I sstill haven't got my things.........NOW the punch line,,,
They cannot find any of my things to send them back even after they said they were stored in Nashville....
So the bottom line is SUE
Yup See you in court Western Express![]()

Don't go into details about the firing. That has nothing to do with it.
Good luck suing several states away. They'll just say you abandoned it.
24 years experience?? I hardly know any truckers in their 40's that are bad to the bone. -
sweetdaddy915 Thanks this.

Doing what the recruiter said? Or what dispatch said?
-
earlier last month one of our drivers was working under our/his truck when western express pulled in an sideswiped him and the guy took off during this ordeal our driver got slammed under the truck broke his fingers and he only got part of a tag number so the lady made us go through all of the reports and the damage estimate and pics to let us know that unfortunatly there was no proof no witness and they are not paying squat so i guess our driver doesn't count as a whitness. So if you get hit by one of there trucks dont worry its on you to fix it $3,800.00 dollars out of our pockets cause they claim they are self insured . So if you work for western express just hit people and run your good, this company is horrible with who they hire fresh green newbies and the guy that hit us couldnt even hardly speak english.

this sounds weird, seems like something is missing?

They tell you to go to TN from IN to look over application= Your getting kicked to the curb.
They are going to spend money to ship belongings of someone they fired? They shipped that stuff strait to the dumpster and another body behind the wheel.
Unless you have a itemized list of all the belongs you left in the truck signed off on by the super. Your not going to win in court. Like has been said they will just blame the loss on you.
But maybe someone else can be saved by reading your post.
Also many company's put in their employee manual how long they will hold your belongings. But if left in a truck they will probably not follow their own policy and just have the new driver poop can what they don't want to keep. -
why not direct you back to the terminal to fire you? Why pull you out in the middle of nowhere basically? I think I would have pulled everything I could have out of the truck and rented a car or something. Maybe call the police and tell them Im stranded. How did they get you back to "go over your application"? Or were you at a terminal? Hmmm Id have cleaned out the sob, if I even sensed something was wrong before i got to the terminal, truck broke down, whatever it takes. Scary
Oh, why did they fire you? We need details, otherwise it sounds like just another weird horror truck story where we have to guess what happened...
P.S. Theres a Western Express truck parked next to me. o_o -
Alittle Details::::I had a minor back injury in 2002.
The recruitter asked if it ever bothers me when I did the app.
I told him only when it gets real cold it will bother me,but that comes with old age.....
So he said not to put the injury on the app. because it has been so long.........
So I did not put the injury down,I have been trucking and never had any problems for years........Well WS found I had the injury and wanted to dicuss it and was told they were going to put me into the van division just in case flat bedding could do harm.
they told me to leave the truck at their terminal in Hammond and put it in their garage under lock and key untill I could return to get it and resume working,Well instead they fired me when I got to Nashville and said I was not allowed on their preperty and they would mail my thingss to my home.
They fired me because they said I falseified the application,Even though the recruitter had said not to list the injury..........
Sure there is no proof other then the dispatchers but either way it will come back into their lap..
Either by lawyer expenses or by having to travel to court in my state which is 1200 miles away.
It will go on record with them and eventually bite them in the ###.......
The gov. funds they get to screw the public will eventually run out or eventually stop because of their poor relationship with the public and drivers....
