I ran pretty hard with Western. I left mainly do to low cpm & I got tired of dealing with bad load info and general foolishness.

I was in dry van and ran everything east of the Mississippi. The van division is smaller and and has a lot less shippers than the flat guys. However, there's still enough shippers to keep you busy. At least in the east, I don't know how it is for WSXI van guys out west.

Once you got used to the small amount of shipper & recievers (which ones are first come first serve, which ones might load/unload you days early if you call and ask, .etc) you could learn how to work with them to figure stuff out despite Western's tomfoolery. When the stars were aligned right I could regularly run 2750 - 3100 miles a week. If there was a speed bump along the way due to a botched appointment at a grocery dc or something I could still usually get about 2000 -2250. Mind you I had a pretty good DM who would make sure I was planned. Western dms get bonuses on if their trucks run good & she was hungry. If drivers get stuck with a dm who don't care their miles suffer.

The in-laws might be involved with it,I don’t know. But after Mr. Wise died, everything went to s***!
I still see their midroof tractors (used in the flatbed division) pulling dry vans around!

When I left I knew the writing was on the wall when they were screwing with my hometime!
They would always try to send me 500 miles (sometimes more, sometimes less)in the opposite direction when it came near to send me home!

Don't keep rambling on with all this verbiage I dont have time to read 2 letter replys, "K" would have been sufficient. I have a budding flatbed empire to run.

I object. No grown man should ever say or type “K”. Ever.

I politely disagree, and here's why.
When the DUI cop asks you what letter comes after J, the reasonable and correct answer would be K.

    You're welcome
