On march 31st I was traveling west on I-20 in ft. Worth tx a western express flatbed gets on westbound and proceeds to run up on a 4wheeler because he's in such a hurry. The driver then proceeds to get behind me and tailgates for several miles at no more than a car length behind me. I call western express safety department & after they take my info the proceed to tell me " thanks for the info, I will be sure to pass it on down the line." I guess western express confirmed what I believed all along, that they promote dangerous driving habits.
Western express promotes unsafe driving!!!

Out of all the driver mill companys out there ive seen Western Express drivers pull among the DUMBest things on the road.
Last year i was cruising down 81 south in PA just south of Carlisle coming up on one of those short left lane closures, with a smokey bear sitting right at the start of the lane closure. I always back it down to a safe speed before any work zone so i backed it down to around 55 or so. This western express driver i passed a few miles ago flew up around me in the left lane which was gonna close..at his governed speed and cut me off as we entered the work zone with a BEAR sitting right there. The cop didnt even budge. He came so close to knocking over the cones closing the left lane just to pass me, cuz i backed it down to a safe speed for the work zone. Thats how close it was he was almost on the cones closing the lane I couldnt believe it. And i couldnt believe the cop didnt even budge or do anything. It really ticked me off. I wasnt even driving a governed truck so of course after it opened up i blew his doors off. Just so pointless. I cant stand these governed drivers having to keep thier governed speed no matter whats going down on the highway. Are they really gonna save any time?..Here i am with an unrestricted truck backing it down and these guys use that safety to thier advantage. Almost as bad as stupid crap that 4 wheelers pull. Absolutly pointless, unsafe and uncalled for.

A few weeks after that work zone incident too i caught this coming back up 81N just over the PA line...i wonder if it was the same driver.

I posted this about two weeks ago on another Western Express thread. Seems as if stupidity and lack of common sense go hand-in-hand.
I'll second that from personal experience. No, I've never driven for Western Express, but the actions of one driver proved to me that some drivers in that company have ZERO common sense. Most will not admit lack of common sense, but if you're caught in the act like this guy was, well.....
I was picking up a preloaded trailer at the Maersk warehouse in Newark, NJ last year. The directions given to me on my Quallcomm routed me
around a 12'2" overpass. The drop yard itself was just before said 12'2" clearance on the left. And the overpass was CLEARLY marked, as well as by distance, such as 1/2 mile ahead, 1500 ft. ahead, etc.
I performed my drop and hook there in the yard, and was getting ready to head back to the Turnpike, when as I was looking right to make my right-hand turn, turning away from the 12'2", I heard the squealing of brakes and the sound of metal on metal. I look to my left, where the overpass was, and lo and behold, there was a Western Express truck, trying to squeeze underneath the overpass. His tires were spinning, trying to get under this thing, of course all he was doing was peeling the top of his trailer back like a sardine can.
Oh, S***!!!! I got on my CB, "Western Express, what in the f*** are you doing?" No answer. As I pulled away, I saw Newark's finest responding to the scene.
I'm pretty sure there were 12'2" warning signs from that direction and he chose to ignore them. Which means, sorry, man, You have ZERO common sense. IF, and I say again, IF that driver ever gets another driving job, I hope he'll be looking closer at low clearances...pun intended. -
My big Western Express deal was at a Pilot in Charlotte, NC. This stop has maybe 20 parking spots. I was on one side when an older couple came out of the building and climbed into the WE truck. They open their fat food from whatever it was inside and when they were done gather all their trash up and put it in their trucks trash bag which the wife then tosses out her window!
I am parked directly across and one over from them and I can look directly down the drivers side of the truck and on the grass behind the trailer is a 55 gal trash can!
I key my CB which I know anyone with in 5 miles can hear and get no answer except from another driver who saw the same thing and I told him I was heading across to ask them to clean up their trash.
I go across the lot and knock on the mans door and he opens the window and I ask him if he would be so kind as to pick their bag of trash up and maybe walk the needed 70' back to the trash can and throw it away?
I know you all know the come back I got from this POS human. I stood there looking at him like he was a complete moron and did what I should have done to begin with.
I walked around to the wifes side and as I turned the corner of the truck and was looking down the side what do I see behind the trailer on this side? Another 55 gal trash can! I point at it and then at her and she looks in the mirror and sees it and locks her door.
I pick the bag of trash up and throw it on the hood of their pretty white Freightliner and as I start to head back to my truck several other drivers blow their horns at me give me the thumbs up and I wave, pull my cell out and walk back to WE truck and look to see if there is a phone number I can call but there wasn't so I called 411 got it and made my call and talked to someone and as I was reading the truck number off moron rolls his window down and asks me what I wanted now and I told him who I was talking to he came unglued jumped out grabbed the trash bag ran it to the trash can and ran back and started the truck and left as if that was going to get his ### off the hook! I gave a blow by blow account to the dispatcher and that was the last I heard!
Ask me if I care if he lost his job or got his arse chewed? Nope!
Would I do it again?
Yep, several times to be exact since and before that time.
Do I call on any driver that drives like a moron around others?
Yep!
Will I ever again?
That's why 911 is so easy to dial and remember those 3 numbers, and there is 411 and 800 info! Those books at the truck stops help also! Then the internet makes life easier and you don't get paper cuts typing the keys! The Challenger, Hardlyevr, kid_cardiac and 3 others Thank this. -
Wow, rollover. We can add "lazy" and "unprofessional" to their list of collective accolades

Rollover the Original Thanks this. -
I admit i worked for them back in 2005 for all of 60 days. Qiut after they couldn't give the truck i was teaming in more than a 900 a load.
But anyways, one thing that started me wondering about them, was in the 1 day oreintaion class.... NO ROAD TEST.
My team partener, he had been out here 20 years, was also amazed that we didn't get a driving test. He said every compnay he has drove for , first thing they did was a driving test. -
