Thursday night A Western Express driver was lamenting about his $3000 fine for going over the Pawtucket Bridge in Rhode Island. It was the company's fault because they told him not to go over it,but didn't tell him where it was. DUH ! it's in Pawtucket !.
He took a lot of crap on the CB.

Remember the Western Express multi state chase on 2/6/09? Dude goes thru the I 270 MD coop and oh dear! He's got a warrant for murder! Wonder how W/E vetting process missed that one? Maybe they don't care what you've done you're warm and have fingers to grip the wheel YOU'RE HIRED! Go have a look on youtube. Hilarity ensues.

How do they promote unsafe driving? I'll tell you how. When you call in to report and their attitude is like we don't care. When there safety dept don't give a crap about, well that's how they promote unsafe driving!

What did you think their responce was going to be? " Well thank you Mr. vigilant motorist we will be sure to nail this drivers @ZZ to the wall on your say so. Give me your phone number, and E-mail address so we can follow up with you on our diciplinary process with this driver."

No bur when they have that type of attitude it just shows that they don't give a crap about if they cause any accident or not. Your response sounds like you are an ex western express driver.

My point is how the company comes across on the phone and what happens internally might be two completely different things. We'll never know. It's still the person behind the wheel that is ultimately responsible for their actions.

FMCSR dictate a driver test is mandatory. After road test is completed, the person giving it must sign it and so must the driver.

When I was rehired by IDC after 4mo not working for them. I did not go back through orientation or take a road test. They just gave me a brand new frt shaker and put me to work.

I don't know about that.. When I started at Werner, there was no road test.. Just orientation, and on the road with a trainer.. perhaps driving with a trainer who then signs for you after their training covers it ?.. Don't know if this companies policy for experienced drivers is to hand them a key without at least a safety person vetting them.. I find it doubtful.
