I have been with Western Express for 10 months....I have put up with my dispatchers...Stuart Pate and Todd for the last time.Todd says he is all for the drivers and stuart does as he pleases just to get miles and loads under his belt and the VPs are a bunch of freaken monkeys running this company. This last time I was out...I was out for a month. I left out on 12/28/09 to 1/23/10...got in SAT night 21:00...Had Sunday/night off and they wanted me to leave out Monday to deliver a load...A whole day and a half off for a month out...I ASK IS THAT RIGHT???? So I call Mike Ershcan, he says he will have the load taken care of and to my request to be transferred to a different terminal...So fine...the next day I find out im still under the load and if I don't deliver it im fired...It was not clear me at the time when I was talking to Mike over the phone this was the case so when it came to Todd my terminal manager asking me to deliver the load or I accept your resignation...my only response was..Mike said....and that was that....I tried to stand up for myself just this once and this is what happened...I got fired for wanting my days off after being out for a month. Not to mention them trying to get me over my hrs and getting no miles....IF I DONT GO OVER MY HOURS...And the guys who do go over there hrs to get miles are screwing the guys who are trying to stay legal.Thats why the pay rate hasn't budged since the 70s...If guys would run LEGAL the trucking companies would have to compensate HRS VS miles...time spent and the Shippers would have to actually pay for shipment on down to the consumer...And thats the TRUTH

From the sound of things, good riddance to W-E. In Alamance County in N.C. today a Western Express driver was killed when his rig went off the hiway and into a river. His body was located in the river. He was apparently loaded and carrying bottled water.
I feel sorry for him and his family. Unknown what in the world happened.

Too bad that you can't turn them in and get them in trouble for trying to force the illegal running.

So you ran illegally? Then refused to do it anymore?

I read here they were behind on their payments for the SMX buy out.

They were willing to accept a guy from my school with a 10 month old 30 over the limit ticket.

File for unemployment and cover your DAC!

No...I did my best to stay legal but with the way they planned loads...it wouldnt jive with my HRs available...Plus they would keep you out for 3 to 4 wks at a time and expect you to go back out on a sunday...Which I understand, cause it totally screwed up my pay wk but if I'm out for a month...Give me my days off man...Thats messed up and they know it

Now I dont know what to do cause no one else will hire me...Ive tried a bunch of companies today and either no one is hiring out of FL or ive had too many red flags on my DAC or something...I dont have any accidents or DWIs....I have a safe driving record but just not enough time with each company or the one abandonment, 3 yrs ago...or the two companies that let me go for ill reasons...one I was in orientation and they wouldnt let me pass the DOT physical do to me being on medication, they wouldnt accept Zoloft and the other, which is my fault...I didnt have tranportation back and forth to work.It was local...Anyway...They make it impossible to get a job with any company now an days. I use to be able to fill out one app and a dozen companies would be callen me.Now.........NOTHEN

I fill for you man. What W-E did was bad news. Glad my company won't put up with that. You log illegal here and you are gone. Going to be near impossible for you to find a new driving job in todays industry. Job hopping and an abandonment. Not good. Not good at all.

    I hear you on this.

Left home on 12/27/09 have yet to get back to the house.

Have DR Apt. on Monday.02/01/10 that was made in Nov.09.
Sent in info on Apt. 4 times. two weeks apart.

I am in NM with a 3 stop load That finals in CO.

I don't think I am getting home for the Apt.

DM said I should consider using DR's out on the road. Not the one at home.

WTF? When he said this, I asked him so what do you do for a DR?
    No reply to that.

Definitely a s*** situation. I spoke to a WE driver last weekend, he seemed pretty content, got home most weekends, but he lives in SC, so that might make a difference. I'm surprised you even got hired, if you have a abandonment in your past, that used to be a kiss of death. And no, I'm not criticizing you, just stating what used to be.

Unfortunately, with the abundance of experienced drivers out there, and you living in FL, your chances are slim. Even most of the so called 'bottom feeders' are wanting a min. of 6 months exp. right now, and more want a year or more. Good luck.
