Was curious does anyone else with the ws 5700 have a problem with massive paint chipping and peeling just above the headlights? My truck ain't got but 70,000 on it and already looks like someone took a sander to my hood. Lucily my truck is silver so the Grey primer showing through don't attract too much attention at a distance. Man western star dropped the ball on this design, everyone I bring it up at a dealer they say there is nothing they can do to repair it.
Western star 5700 paint wtf

Dig into warranty there is something they have to do. They are blowing smoke in your hole.
-
Tell them to fix it or your gonna trade it in for a kw

Ive got 2 stars. 4900sf but no problem with paint at all. In fact they got the nicest paint from the factory ive ever seen on a truck. Not sure why yours would be any diffrent. Must be a factory flaw that surely Warrenty should cover

What does truck design have to do with a crappy paint job? If the trucks under a year old you should have a good case for a repainted hood. You could get sone nice small stainless trim pieces made up that go above the headlight on the fender an inch or two.

They're blowing smoke up your ###. If it's still under warranty they should be respraying that hood.

It's the way the slope over the headlight reacts to debris. Or so the dealers keep quoting. I don't see many on the road except CR England. But an operation that large probably has access to an in house booth and their custom paint tint. A few I saw waiting on various warrenty work or services each time I brought it in it seems to be common. But WS says they have had a lot of complaints on it this year (being so far a one year truck going on 2nd year production) they are looking into a possible paint recall. Been searching for accessories to cover the area but as new as the design is I can't find anywhere that sells them yet, I check all the chrome shop Web sites monthly and call bi-monthly but they haven't circulated enough on the O/O side to garner much demand.
I think they are waiting on western stars corporate decision on recall or Waranty as it has affected quite a few trucks. painting one truck is not too bad but painting every one made the last year I would suspect gets costly but I'm defiantly not giving up on pestering them. -
Brother is having same issue. Think he took it in Weds for a few recalls , and find out about the paint. Rustolum has a spray and peel coating . He shot the front fenders in mat black , to stop it . Peels off like a sticker.

If you trade for a KW , make sure you get two.

My Star has the paint taking a beating on the tops and sides of the fenders. I've had them painted twice already.
