Started up the truck this morning to go fuel up and noticed the datastar info center in the dash doesn't work, it was workin fine on friday. The dislay lights up and shows all the different functions but the fuel level still reads 55% after I filled it up, no boost reading, no mpg reading no nothing. Is it possible it's a bad connection, bad fuse or do I need a new datastar display???

Sounds like bad connection. I've had good luck just unplugging them and plugging them back in.

Thanks for the info, I'll have to give that a shot tomorrow. It had been working fine & I can still select different functions but it just keeps reading zero.

I have a 1998 4964FX daycab that needed a new overhead console. When I found out the only new one left in the US was $1600. I ended up buying a wrecked 2003 cab assembly instead. I stripped it and have used lots of stuff including the console,a complete mint shape blue interior, and many other small parts. My truck is pre-datastar, but I still have the apparently undamaged datastar unit if you want to try another one. You are welcome to have it if you like. I'm not sure if you would have to reprogram it some way or if you could just plug it in. If you want, PM me your info and I'll be glad to send it to you.

Too bad you didn't post on here first. Could have helped you out! I too ran into the same issue with my 2000, they are famous for cracking around the CB and am/fm radios.

    Heres my solution

Had all the plastic interior panels custom made out of fibreglass. Everything is a smooth finish and painted red now except for the dash, thats gonna be my next major project.

If anyone needs any of the panels (top centre console, both side pillars, upper door panels, or the side roof panels) I can get another set made again. I had a mold made for them all.

Been a few years now but I'd say under $1000 for sure. Keep in mind cost for me would have been more since he had to make the moulds. Although they wouldn't be finished it would need fit trimming around some of the pieces and some minor body work to smooth it all out. I fitted them all myself and i'm by far a body man. If someone had serious interest then I could look into the cost of having another set or certain pieces made.
