I really have no idea where misinformation comes from but I did want to clear up some confusion that has been out there about the Western Stars and where and how they are built. Whoever has told you that Stars are built in Mexico was wrong. They did at one point last year mention that they may move to Mexico but they since have changed that decision and are staying right here in America!!
Let me start by saying that's a great looking Western Star 4900SA Expediter!! Western Stars are the only HAND BUILT truck left and they are being built in AMERICA!! Portland, OR as a matter of fact and not Mexico. I was there in December and watched as they assembled these incredible trucks from start to finish!!

I drive a Western Star Expediter my self and It has been a pretty good truck. It has plenty of power even in the mountans and she gets like 9 mpg. not bad for a truck that has close to 900k miles
