Good to hear it, I'm looking forward to hearing what happens in school, I look forward to meeting you sometime. Where is the school located? I am going in this week to get my DOT Physical and then my pee test so I can start school in a few weeks, I also gotta go stand in line to get my "Certified" MVR. Keep in touch. TD.

mmmmmm...... Is the whole state of AZ going to school?? I start Community College Truck Driving on the 12th of this month. Already had my physical and pee test. Went down to ADOT and got a CDL Manual just to get a head start mostly for hazmat stuff. I can tell you I am excited.

AZ CATS I am in a hurry to get going so no Community College for me. Just an FYI for you the written test was pretty easy the general knowledge is 50 questions sections 1-3 in manual, air brakes was 20 questions from section 5 of manual and combos was 20 questions from section 6 of the manual It is progressive so if you are not sure SKIP, you may never see that question again. I am deciding on HAZMAT.

What Community College in Tucson you going to? What company do you plan on going with?

Just my 2 cents, I want to be known by NAME not truck number. I looked at Swift pretty hard, but they have been up and down too much due to leadership. Now that corporate is more involved I think they will get better. Also I dont want 6-8 weeks in truck with a trainer, at W/S once you are done with the 30 day, 10 day or 3 day with them you hit the road on your own. I like my privacy.

I understand what you are saying, I have by no means ruled W/S out. I am still putting in apps and going to as many companies as I can. I am driving up to Phoenix on Tuesday to check out and talk to companies there. I am also like you I would like to get out solo as soon as I can. But I do not want to do it at the expense of safety. I like yourself and others want to be the safest and most reliable driver. This is a huge career change for me, 19yrs with my previous employer. I do not move around and want to find the most suitable company, I am doing as much research as I can.

Awesome AZ 19 years with last job, good for you. I have been unemployed since September, I worked in computers and also security/corrections. I agree safety is number 1, I thought about it and figured that W/S would not set you loose if they did not feel you could handle it. I have pre-hires from 7 companies and ranked them like this. W/S, Cargo Express, Stevens, Swift, US Xpress, Covenant, and Werner. Let me know how your visits go tomorrow.

Without a doubt, not sure what time I will be getting back i'm thinking it's going to be all day and half the night, Lot of ground to cover questions to ask. By the way I was reading the W.S thread on here, actually have been reading it so much feels like my eyes are bleeding. Anyway seems like alot of good stuff going on there. I am thinking about giving Sandy a call again ask some more questions, these recruiters are probably tired of me calling. But I am pretty much a company man just have to make sure it is the right company. I do whatever it takes with a smile.
