Thanks Zephyr. I'm pretty nervous about testing so having to wait another week kind of sucks :/
Have you started school yet? I'm curious what the other western truck school campuses are like.

In order to get funding for my program, I needed to get more than one 'conditional pre hire' and Werner denied me due to some fines with the court that are still outstanding and need to be paid, but I ended up with FIVE others due to my 'homework' as part of that process. I have pretty much decided to go with May Trucking because the recruiter was the most forthcoming with answers to the questions I had. The other recruiters were less than responsive in my mind (having been in customer service and hired/trained/fired team members in the past, I probably would have fired these recruiters for lack of responsiveness). I understand that Werner does provide trucks for the school's use as part of their deal.
In my class of 2, at the halfway point, I spent far more time behind the wheel than I did when I went to another school and didn't need to fight for seat time. This is a good thing.
Bottom line, did you pass at DMV? What can you say about the testing? -

My first experience was with Swift. I went to their facility in Fontana, which apparently was a terminal of theirs until they built a new facility nearby because they turned it into a school and contracted TDA to operate it for them. There I was in a class of 35, with 4 to an instructor on the road and 8 to an instructor for skills AND a 2 week timetable! We were literally fighting for seat time there and those that were successful had prior experience. I am in class now with Western Truck School's West Sacramento campus, which is just about 1 mile from the main office. A couple of improvements that I would make would be to get rid of as many of the vehicles and trailers as possible that are sitting in their 'boneyard' and get new equipment; and to contract with Raley Field (where the Sacramento RiverCats play) for daytime space to run skills. They also need to spend some money to get new cones and markers for the yard.
All in all, Western Truck School is giving me a better experience.ZephyrSoCal Thanks this. -
BTW: The instructors I spoke with while at the Swift school claimed an 80% success rate... I call BS!!!!
