    Oroville?[/QUOTE]

Pioneer . It's closed now. I was thinking about Oroville and Sonora when I mentioned the plastic wrap though. SP also had a cedar mill at Sloat but they shut it down.

Company has us throw plastic down on freight before we tarp to combat load claims. Its a pain in the rear on windy days but waters going to get under that tarp at some point.

Does your company supply that plastic or the plant?

Most likely that commodity didn't really require tarping by the customer but the Broker "sold" the service to them anyway trying to kiss their ###. This was one of the main reasons I quit tarping. I don't even carry them on the truck anymore. I've seen guys tarp asphalt shingles! Unreal.

Holes in the tarp will lead to a wet load, no matter how small they might be. Grab some duct tape if you have to and patch them. Flex seal works great too.

We used to haul a lot of marine plywood to a boatbuilder in San Francisco.. Every load had to be tarped. I never did figure that one out.

Prime example! Landscape timbers, that's another one. Many of these customers have simply been spoiled by the new standard Brokers have created for Carriers.

    Feedman and PoleCrusher Thank this.

I picked up a load of shingles one day, drove all day thru rain then that eve my dispatcher said the load needed trapped so I trapped it. The next morning I drove 50 miles to the receiver and they dropped the shingles in a muddy yard in the rain! Smh

James Hardie comes to mind. Cement siding, but you've got to protect those flimsy labels.

    PoleCrusher and DSK333 Thank this.

What kind of trap did you use? A minnow trap would probably be too small, squirrel trap maybe? Surely not a rat trap!

Bet it wasn't a bear trap though, those things can hurt ya if your not careful.

SAR, ramblingman, Grubby and 4 others Thank this.
