I carry some 20x15 plastic tarps. If it’s something that really needs protected and I know I’m going through some weather I’ll lay those down first. They were cheap and have lasted about 3 years no problem. I haven’t fixed any of my tarps in 3 years. There’s a few small holes but most things it doesn’t mater anyway in my opinion.

Curly88 Thanks this.

There are many reason to tarp different loads besides keeping them dry. To keep road grime and salt off the product. To keep labels and shrink wrap intact. To prevent people from seeing what you’re hauling. I used to work at a place to sold Unilock paving stones. Unilock would give you specific areas you were allowed to sell your product. They could pull your distribution privileges if you were caught selling outside your assigned area. We would tarp loads going to long time customer that were outside our area so we wouldn’t get caught.
The biggest reason, and only one that matters, is the customer is paying you to do it.peterbilt_2005, Slowpoke KW, PoleCrusher and 1 other person Thank this. -

But you’re not paid to tarp that load? See the disconnect here? -
