The amount of trucks available in any area affects the rate. Have a good day, sir.

    You are overanalyzing this.
Have you ever observed cattle during winter?
Cows always know where and when a farmer would bring them food, they never fail to conglomerate at a feeding spot when the right time is. Trucks on the spot market are like that too. Posted or not, they'll always be there.

There is actually a lot of freight coming out of Florida and at decent rates but in this case it really is in the relationships you build and WHO you know. Some of my best loads and really good rates for me where when I was tri hauling around Florida. But I am with a high quality company that had been in business for over 80 years and they have a couple sales reps that just handle Florida and Georgia. I have found the guys that will do NOTHING but run off of load boards are the ones that say such and such an area is ALL no good.

I can't really answer, it depends on each owner's business model. All I know is, one way or another, you'll use time on the 70. I don't know that either is beneficial one way of the other. I guess it depends on where deadhead to or take a cheap load to.

No worries. They were pretty much rhetorical questions anyway. I routinely run into dead areas and come back to my yard empty. I can load worthless cheap trash (literal trash) on my deck and waste two entire days for what hardly covers the fuel OR I can go straight back to the yard in the same day as soon as I drop in the morning.

It puts me in a better freight area with tons of options where I have the upper hand. So I can be reloading an extra day early and do it all over again. You say it all burns the clock. That is true but it makes more sense to use those hours as productively as possible. Spending time on crap and working my equipment harder than necessary is not a good business decision in my book.

I refuse to haul anything cheap out
I can DH and for a much better rate for all miles plus I’m not doing any favors for those cheap shippers

Same goes for any other cheap area
