I once thought it would be a good idea to take a driving job for salary instead of hours or miles. I was told 8-9 hours a day max. Within 2 weeks I was driving 11 hours every day in addition to loading and unloading my own trailer with a forklift for an additional 4-6 hours. That lasted a few weeks before I had enough.

All I have to say is that the longest days I have worked was not done in a single day. lol
Them days are gone for me, It has probably been 3 years or so that I pulled a side dump for 12 hours, on the way to the yard the boss called and ask if I would go to prudhoe. I ask when and he said now, I told him I had better come by and fuel up first, made for a good check for just a driver that week. That was not near the longest, but the longest I have done in years.

18 hours paving a couple weeks ago.

30 something when I was a kid and a valet/bellman. I mostly just slept tbh.

I just got done at 9:30 tonite so I just did 14 hours more after the 19 so 33 hours on 3 hours sleep woohoo.... if i go to sleep soon tho I might actually get a full nite of sleep. Too bad I’m paid buy the load and I can normally get the same 5 loads done 10-12 hours in good weather. Most of my time came from just waiting on people digging the sawdust out their trailers.

Paper logs... I’ll post a picture of my stuff at the end of the week. The first weigh in/out was around 9 but I started driving with the load at 7:30 and last weight in/out was around 1:30 am and I got to my parking hole just right around 2:30 or whenever I posted that message it was from the truck as I was waiting for my car to warm up.

I’m not sure how exactly they get around it legally or if it is legal they always just say “don’t ever write you’ve worked more than 11 hours.”

    201 Thanks this.

If we are working local, we have to fill out a log book if we write down we worked over 12 hours legally.
