I had ordered the rebuild kit in August. It finally came in February. I had never opened it until this past Monday. Now, I have a 12.7...however, the pistons I was told are 11.1 pistons....I ordered based on the engine serial number from Fitzgerald. The pistons have bolts on them or something......My mechanic says its 11.1 with 12.7 parts(whatever that means lol) @Smellfunny ...by the way, what would cause bad rings allowing coolant in.... They're gonna start the teardown tomorrow. Says they should have it going in about a week(Just depends on Clarke Power with the cutting/counter bores)

Two things. 1) the o-rings were damaged during the install. 2) the bottom counter bore where the o-rings seal are pitted up very very badly and the o-rings can't seal properly. From cavitation. (This is the more likely cause)

What is your ESN? I saw part of it.

Early 60's the piston pins were drilled and tapped, and bolted to the rod. Both 11.1 and 12.7's. Later models changed rod styles.

O rings do fail occasionaly, but make certain they check the area where thec o ings seal closely.

Yes sir. I assume itd probably be a good idea when they take my engine to Clarke Power to take the liners to assure proper fitting..... Ill take some before and after pictures. Probably start another thread.

Make sure they inspect that block very good before taking it to cut. Would suck to find an issue in the lower bore after the block is cut

Yep, just checked receipt. Thats the one I have. I just know Fitzgerald, when they build them. They upgrade a lot of stuff. I remember and I cant remember who telling me you gotta be careful, I dont want it to be a 12.7 and rebuild it to an 11.1....

Fitzgerald just used whatever they had at the moment when building these engines, all the ones I've torn down not much matches the serial number on the side of the engine at all.

Every one that I have seen from them with Detroit engine has had severe leaks around the front gear cover. I know we sold engines to resellers that they would take to them for use that we would have thrown in the scrap pile.
