No argument, but that’s just stating the obvious. Almost all commercial trucks, a lot of RV’s and personal pickup trucks all getting hosed.

WHY is the market this broken?

I used to do that fill with low price before I leave the state.
I wasn't doing my own ifta.
It's not where you buy, it's where you drive that determines your cost. Out of pocket today is 2.89 at a cnf in California. Most of that fuel will be burned in Nevada or Oregon.
Won't know the true cost until I file.

    Are you based in California?

Have you ever been hit with extra payments from Cal IFTA because you didn't buy enough fuel for the miles traveled? They've nailed me with that a time or two.

I always have to pay IFTA for not purchasing in Ca. I compare base prices before taxes and Ca is always above the neighboring states. Even though I always have an IFTA bill, it’s still a savings over purchasing anything in Ca. I made it a point this quarter to not purchase a dimes worth in Ca.

Have I mentioned I hate California and the idiots who run it, and despise the fact I have to come here at all :)

It’s broken, but if a commercial driver is paying retail running his business, then there needs to be a talk about his business plan.

For a dedicated trucker, I’ll cede the argument, but lots of local guys, businesses with trucks, farmers, etc are getting it up the back side. I ran the trucking side of our business off retail fuel for 12 years, until I started coming on here. Why is the market not working?

The market works fine. I'd since nitwit is to disorganized and unsophisticated to get hos act together to get with a fuel discount program, that's his problem.
It's really no different than the guys that pay retail for tires. Plenty of different programs out there top save big bucks, but they decide not to take advantage of them and pay more for cheap Chinese tires than we pay for good quality top brands like Michelin and Bridgestone.
