Swift cant do anything unless they know about it. I would ask to change DM's and explain why. I would even go to your current and ask if you are doing anything wrong. When drivers do not get miles and sit, I would think it is because of one of the following reasons: Service failure(s) bad mouthing the company refusing loads for various reasons I have been told by other drivers, Swift has the freight to keep you moving. I tend to believe them. KH
Until I complained on here, I hadn't said an unkind word to anyone about anything to do with Swift at all except to my wife. I do not have any service failures, and I have only refused 2 loads ever only because of hours of service. My risk analysis score is negative. My macro 10 is always sent before 6am local time. In other words, I am complying with pretty much everything they ask, and yet for some reason I am barely averaging 1800mi/wk. I am just afraid to make waves with office staff as I do not want things to go from bad to worse.
Sometimes, you need to make noise to be heard. It's not viewed as "making waves." It's viewed as looking out for yourself. It's people who allow themselves to slip through the cracks that wind up unhappy. I suggest a polite conversation with your DM expressing your concerns. If you can't find the gumption to speak up, I don't want to hear any complaints about how badly "sc***ed you're getting. It'll be your own fault...for not telling them what you need. Do you think they're mind-readers?
What sucks is the days you lost for hometime. You can't "bank" your days off. I keep seeing the same complaints about Denver here, and with the Denver newbies I meet. Must be the same DM. I had to hold my DM to the QC message she sent out on the Monday before Christmas. "if you haven't requested to run on Christmas we are working to get you home." I was actually typing a message to her telling her as long as I got home for Christmas, I would roll the next day. (I had gone out the Friday before Christmas.) We ended up getting in a big brawl on the Qualcom. Her trying to get me to go the opposite way too close to Christmas. I reminded her of her message and mine. I refused to accept the load. She finally sent me, "if we can't get you a load towards home we will dead head you there." She knew that I was wanting her to commit to what she promised. And I wasn't going to take anything less than a commitment on the QC. She and I are still on a friendly basis. We get along great. Any A-hole who tells you they can't find the messages on the QC is trying to play on your ignorance. Keep those messages in your truck until they aren't relevant any more.
No need for an apology. Just wanted clarify that I'm not sitting around refusing loads and then complaining about it. And Injun, the only thing I ask is that I am kept working, and that I get my hometime. I came here to work, and occasionally I like to go home. If they need me to let them know this, why the hell are they even in a management position?
It would seem your statement makes sense. However, so many drivers are just fine with 2,000 miles per week. Unless the DM receives a friendly reminder on occasion, you can slip through the cracks. I am only encouraging you to be the squeaky wheel. I piped down last month. My miles dropped by about 1,000. Well, I was fighting off a chronic case of the f*#$-its, too, but that's beside the point. When I request work, it is generally given to me.
Makes sense when you put it that way. I'll start being more vocal that I'm here to work, not tour truck stops and terminals. Of course I'll leave out the last part.
while i was sitting in alamagordo for a day i sent in a nagging message every two hours. that night i get set up with a nice run, over 1700 miles. coincidence? i think so.
