I have 4 driver handbooks in my truck (3 were sitting in the compartment above the drivers seat already before I was assigned to it) and besides the fact that they all differ in number of pages and sections, I cannot find any thing pertaining to hometime at all in any of them.

Not an issue any more, but it was a crappy way to learn company policy.

Shrek: Commission is exactly how Prime's Fleet Managers (same thing as our DMs) are paid. They are not paid percentage of miles, though. They are paid percentage of revenue. Additionally, a lease driver who ends up in the hole will cost the FM money from his or her paycheck. And, I just found out yesterday, if a driver "fires" a FM and goes to a different fleet within Prime, the "fired" FM is "fined" $500. If a driver quits the company altogether before finishing a lease, like I did, the FM is "fined" $1,000. At least, that's the information I was given by a friend who started his first lease with them a week ago. I hope it works out better for him than it did for me.

I'm happy to be back with Swift. I don't work nearly as hard as I did at Prime and last week, made nearly 5x my average weekly take-home at Prime. I am so hoping to stay on this gig for a while. Basically, work five days, take two days off in a location I want to be in, drive 2,800 miles for the week and pocket $1,650. Works for me. Granted, not an average over the year I've been back. However. That average is nearly three times as much as at Prime. Won't hear me complaining.
