FW35. About the same price I paid for the last one. I've never seen a Holland fail, I have seen Fontaine, Jost fail. That was 15 years ago.

Just make sure to check plate for fastness, before you rebuild any of them.

Holland. There are are tons of 50 plus year old Fw35 Hollands still working out there. They designed and set the standard in 1935 everyone else has had to copy.

That's exactly what it is, but its not welded, it is bolted on

i have one of the weld on variety/ from my understanding and usage, it would not be especially ideal for a drop and hook operation as it is not made to accommodate grease.

The grease isn't a big issue. It's the dirt that the grease collects and holds. Will wear the Teflon out rapidly.

Like been said it’s the dirt that wears them out. A small piece of gravel can score the plate surface in seconds. How many guys you see running down the road bobtail with new grease on a plate covered in crud being thrown up by the drives only to just slide under the trailer without cleaning it off. Grinding all the dirt and dried up grease the fresh grease covers from the fifth’s plate and the trailer plate together. Makes that fresh grease absolutely Useless.
Same with king pins. Pickup a parked trailer from a dirt lot. Pin covered in crud that the wind or the constant dust kicked up from other passing vehicles blew all over it. Makes that fresh grease instantly useless.
Keeping a trailer coupled and greased once every 3 months is probably less wear then greasing every time you drop and hook. Greaseless plates have to be kept clean to just the same.

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

I drop and hook a lot. I’ve had no issues with grease on my Teflon pads. The little bit of grease I pick up is still a lot cleaner than not having Teflon and greasing the plate all the time.
