If you have older truck they work. The new engines like DD15 already have one built in from the factory.

OPS is probably better it has heater and valve to take oil samples from the filter.

If your truck is a 2012 you should already have an extra filter to clean the oil. Before spending the 300 on the extra oil filter check it first. Having 3 filters might be a bit much.

 

Yeah,one comes with 2 full flow filters and a bypass filter out hint it would be over kill

 

All volvo d11,d12,d13,d16 come with 3 filters 2 main and one bypass agreed with @Sharky88 it would be overkill

 

I think adding a Spinner II would actually improve the current set up on the VED 13.

 

Maybe, certainly won't hurt it that's for sure. A lot of these guys are getting 1.5 million miles out of the d12 and d13's with the stock set up. I guess I don't see the point in the extended oil changes using spinners and bypasses it seems risky regardless to what an oil analysis says. But that is just my opinion. I am certainly no oil or engine expert for any means but here is a thought..

I do my own oil changes which cost me about 125$. That is for Valvoline 10w30 synblend and 3 WIX filters which I buy those in bulk during the spring sale at my local parts store. My OCI's are about 25000 miles give or take.

So for every 100,000 miles it cost me about 500$. If you go 1,500,000 miles it costs 7500$. Now that is figuratively speaking there but my point is its 7500$ is really a small figure when talking about the life of a engine.

 

These newer emission motors really shoud go by engine hours for the OCI.
