What AHI number do most trucking companies want to see, if you have sleep apnea? (Not trolling.)

It should work for you and it will fix the problem. Your first night or week your AHI might drop down to 8 or 7. You will need time to get comfortable sleeping with the face mask on. So once you get CPAP going give it 30 days so you can get use to sleeping with it. Don't be surprised if you pull face mask off when sleeping or mask get to lose. Those are all thing you have to adjust to and how tight you need the mask. That's why it take time to adjust to sleeping with it.

Not entirely sure, because I don't use one. I got into this industry before all that got mandated, and I'm not OTR anymore. My wife says she wants me to get one so I don't snore, LoL.
That link I posted above for you has a TON of really good information, I've been looking it over myself for the last hour. Very informative.
I know that you have to have a certain "compliance rate" that your company can actually look at your data and check that you are doing so.
Who did you end up going with / whom have you applied to? I've heard Swift and Prime will reimburse you for the equipment. CPAP stuff....... just saying.

    G13 Tomcat touched on something.

We got out 2001 OTR and 2009 crew bossing at the truck auctionhouse herding a crew of CDL drivers new and old teaching them old iron manual or computer autos to drive to barn.

We did not deal with any of that new mandated sleep apnea stuff. It came into the industry when the Government decided that truckers cannot and will not sleep well and decided to mandate that all truckers get tested automatically for it if they got a big neck, too fat flabby etc. We were too thin so we got ignored and passed over for those tests.

That was the early stages of what is to become a medical industry wide monster stalking the lives of all truckers above a certain BMI today. I cannot even go into my doctors each month and not be tested for BMI as a prelude to sleep apnea. I don't get to say leave it alone I don't need it. No, they test for it. Period. Every. Month.

Im glad we got out when it was good. But dam it... those who have the power to diddle and mess with people good and bad across the USA should eff off. Leave it. If you are really sick while sleeping slap some oxygen on there and you will pink up fast enough and bounce out by morning. This sleep apnea is gotten to be a form of spanish inquisition if you pardon the term.

What do you want in truckers? NASA Perfect Humans who never get sick or sloppy while driving a big semi truck? I don't think so.

I am semi ranting here. One hand says that it's really horrible how the medical field has mutated into a enforcement instrument against skilled truckers who do well and the other hand rejoices that finally someone cares enough to help us sleep. But NOT THAT KIND OF HELP DAM IT. /rant. Leave it to the driver to decide. Don't shove it down his throat.

I don't know yet, I have found some pretty good things about Averitt Express. Millis Transfer doesn't seem bad either, especially if you go in with CDL in hand.

Averitt is not half bad. They are all over Tennessee. Im not sure what they do actually maybe run out 300 miles interchange with another averitt and come back for the night. Do it again tomorrow maybe? I don't know. Nice equiptment but somewhat generic.

Our fellow resident @TROOPER to TRUCKER had a bad experience with Averitt; he got hurt and they didn't have his "back" ...... no pun intended. They pretty much threw his stuff off his truck or something to that avenue....but other than that, before he got hurt, I think he was happy. BUT FOR shaving the beard, and the dang uniforms, LoL.
Why not looking into Swift and/or Prime?
You're too good for Carolina Cargo, I can tell you that.
Do you want Van? Reefer? Flatbed? Just wondering what you are leaning toward there. I'm not here to bash you, man.
Flatbed is a breed of its own. I used to do it in the winters, until this year. The securement is something in and of itself; go look at some of those flatbedders posts/threads. I respect them, wholeheartedly. It's just not me. I'm too old to start over, ya know? You're probably my son's age. One of the 3... LoL~!
Keep us posted, man. Best of luck to you~

Van is nice. Anyone can haul van. I found it boring. Unless it's a million dollars in narcotics in downtown memphis with people wanting it.

Flatbedding as G13 said is a art. It's a very wonderful art with certain perks. For example a 10 foot spread axle trailer you can literally put 40K back there on the CAT scale or coop and they cannot bother you. No more sliding. Except the very rare occaisonal 5th wheel peg slide. Securement is literally a joy of the Gods. They amuse themselves by tipping your stuff off the flatbed if you just threw one strap over it like a lazy moron. For us to laugh later on TTR in Youtube posts.

Reeferwork./.. this hurts. 550 boxes of meat. Move it in 3 hours off the floor. Yourself. Can you do it? 48,000 pounds moved up to 70 feet from the trailer to designated spot for warehouse to get it.

^^^^^^ That's why I pull tanks... but it's not easy to get into from the Get-Go. I did my OTR van time, and then pulled doubles. Never did reefer, except for 1 week as a favor. No thanks!!!
Yes, I wish I would HAVE learned the art of flatbed at a younger age instead of just getting it thrown at me a few years ago in the asphalt off-season. It taught me that I didn't know jack-crap . Almost made a grown man cry. Most respected trucking in the industry, by far.

What is so bad about Carolina Cargo? Are they hard to get on with. I just don't want this using a CPAP thing to bar me from employment.

Carolina Cargo is... ratty. They will take anyone and everyone with a pulse. I cannot stand to deal with them in traffic because they are in this constant state of being horse whipped by dispatch to get to the customers like right now. Don't stop to eat, shower, sleep none of that. VROOM they rush through and around you if possible.

They have been in business so long they actually have stopped caring for drivers.
