800 or more is not a few bucks to me. New quality recaps could easily go for 300 each. 250 and they would be gone before the day was out. atleast in my area.
I think that is fair for both parties and it put another 200.00 in your pocket over what you were being offered.
Yeah new tires are on. I got him to go to 155. I heard him on the phone selling them for 195 so I am happy with the deal. I also got the price down by twenty five more dollars on the new tires because I found a Love's price list on the net that was lower than his price. I am happy with the deal. The casings on the removed caps were not pristine by any means and a couple of them may be on their second run, based on the looks of them. Some guy got a decent deal for his dump truck tires. No way those will ever last long enough to worry about whether the casings are good for another round.
An interesting side note to all this is that I went to two different tire distributors and got prices through the national account of the company I am leased to and Loves beat them both with their normal internet price. Their shop rates are about twenty five dollars cheaper than the local Freightliner dealer and only five or ten more than my regular mechanic charges. If they would have bought my recaps I would have gone to Love's. It's not very often you can say you went to a truck stop to save money.
Loves are full of good people. I've never left a Loves and thought I got ripped off. T/A and Petro could learn a few lessons from Loves. Loves is doing some mechanical work. I expect them to have full service facilities in a few years.
