to YOU it looks like minor BS...

but to the insurance company, if there is an accident, or even a ticket, or DOT inspection, and CSA points, to the company, maybe opening up an audit.....it's an all TOO REAL thing to deal with.

Update: Got a very stern verbal warning. No paperwork. Appreciate them giving me a second chance, but now it’s a decision time. Obviously will avoid HOS Violations at all costs moving forward, but now it’s a question of whether to stay with current employer on thin ice for termination, or try and find something else where I’ll be on a clean slate. Terminations are rough on a DAC from what I’ve heard, but putting in some more time here on good behavior would probably get me a better job reference and avoid any negative marks on a DAC. Either way, a lot better outcome than being canned.

Wow....they didn't want you to overrule that collision avoidance. It's no hiding from safety. Goodness man

Excellent news. Just watch your P & Q's and if there is any question of coming close to exceeding any hours, communicate.

My Dad always said the best time to look for a job is when you have one.
Glad it worked out for you.

That’s exactly right. If you wait till you lose it you take whatever you can get. I’m always on the lookout for something better. I doubt I’ll last much longer where I’m at.

You can’t be serious about that being the real reason for getting fired !

mashing the accelerator while the cruise was set is a fire able offense ??

Surprised there was no paperwork to document it .

    ive gotten canned before.

i think everyone has at least once or twice .

If you have a clean dac and MVR and several years experience you can go just about anywhere.
Get the hazmat and doubles and tanker and twic if you don’t already have them.
There are some tanker and flatbed companies that pay good . And have some decent home time.

If they did not make you sign any paperwork you will be fine if they were even thinking that they may want to can you in the future they would have you sign something they have to justify there own jobs by having the meeting with you and determine your attitude, you passed the test wait 3 months then ask for a raise.
