What are some abnormal items to make trucking easier?

my list of unusual items I like to drag around with me:
-bottle of hot sauce (this is like duct tape for your meals)
-bottle of l-tryptophan (for a solid sleep)
-bottle of caffiene pills (for getting up again if you don't want or can't do coffee)
-compass (not electronic, I like to have one...)
- electric kettle (assumes you have an appropriate inverter; for coffee, tea, dehydrated meals, bathes! etc, and not that 9v ts one either! its do-able, but sooo slow)
-campers soap (rinseless soap for a bath if you can't do a ts shower, assumes you have hot water and a container to keep it in, and a towel and maybe a face cloth or sponge)

 

An ink Pen. I can't say how many times I see a driver looking for a pen. by them by the box for like 3 bucks when at shipper and you need to sign something pull one out of your own pocket and sign and walk away! besides one bout with the swine flu will shut you down for a LOOONG time look at me. and I could have gotten frome some other persons pen. IMO

 

This a must have for every trucker out there, and that is thick skin, gotta have that, next is a alum shovel and hip wadders, course you can just start out with rubber wadding boot's, but get a heavy duty alum scoop or shovel, becuse belive me and you , your gonna need it with other drivers and dispacters, too everybody .

 

This is a must have, if you wear glasses or contact's , make shure you have a second pair in the truck, in case of mishap on the dock's or around your tractor and you break yours, the weigh station will shut you down if you cannot provide a 2nd pair of glasses too wear if it says so on your cdl, also make a list of all medication's you are taking now, and place somewere the ems can get hold it quik, hightlight the top 1 inch in bright color too helps, this could you out in case you pass out or something,

 

Man Chompi! where were you when I was trying to find my away around..Ya bro! the 5 gallon bucket is a life savor! Cept i was on the 91 Fwy heading to Anaheim from Az and stuck in traffic!!! Cept my breakfast from the Chiraco Summit Cafe was moving faster than morning rush hour! pulled over at I15/91 interchange! Like some of your ideas..i'll use 'em! been driving for 4 years and never thought of some of what you suggested. thanks Chompi

 

Please keep the med list in the drivers door pocket. It helps so much when you have a 300 pound trucker who stopped breathing with a lot lizard screaming and crying in the back saying she killed him.

 

SheriffJohn, to me, that is the worst thing about trucking! I have been there many times man! I even though of putting up a little shower curtain type deal on the catwalk to make a little makeshift crapper! I drove team all the time so in the truck wasn't an option. Most of the time it was between the tandems! Nowadays you have APU's so there goes that spot! Tell you what though, when your out in the middle of the desert at night by yourself it's kind of nice to have a bucket outside!

 

Ya Brother Chompi! I heard that! Though in the desert at night it's cool to stroll out 20 yards from truck and find a nice ditch, minus snakes of course, and star gaze while emptying bowels and your thoughts...why in the heck are we still on this? LOL! Take care bro!
