I had a GPS tell me that in order to travel to Poland Maine I needed to drive around the block in Westwood Maine.
It was at that time I stopped wasting my time with GPS

That was my first question too. Many times as an OTR driver I was tasked with moving trailers or driving the day cab and bringing loads to a terminal or drop yard. I got paid by the hour. As far as OTR I guess the shortest I can remember was The back end of a repower from the Carnesville Ga Petro to the Winder Ga Walmart DC. The driver before me got sick and was carried via ambulance to the hospital. I never really found out for sure, but I was told that driver died.

And that's just to go to the bathroom! Montana is big!

Seriously.... Most all of us OTR do some little city runs. Maybe fill in? Maybe helping out when were in and they're short?

I once was asked by my boss to move a loaded trailer out of a deep snow drift and across the yard because the driver that needed it couldnt even get to the trailer, let alone get it out.

He had tried without success to back under it without first digging the drifted and hard packed 3 foot deep drift out from beneath the apron.

I asked him if he had thought to try digging some of the snow out first... His reply was "Thats not what I'm paid to do." After an hour on a shovel, and hanging a full set of iron to get the trailer out, the boss walked up to me as I was getting ready to drop it.

He handed me two $100 bills, and said "Do you want to take this trailer? It is a better run than the one you're dispatched for."

I said "What about super trucker?" As I motioned toward the other driver.

Boss replied "He appears to like sitting in his truck doing nothing and not getting paid, I noticed from my office window he didnt even get out of his truck, let alone try to help you."

So I took the load... Other wise it would have been my shortest load... Lol
