Getting it in contract form is not going to happen, oh sure they will say you will make 55 cents a mile they didn't tell you that starting out the pay id 28 cents a mile and to get to the 55 cents a mile you need to have triplets and 2 boys and a girl all with Blonde Hair and blue Eyes and the Boys need to born first and last not next to each other, and then they all 3 need to go to Harvard and all major in Education!! But they did say you could make 55 cents a mile, this is a extreme case of what I'm trying to say here but I think you get it. If you get to the point of making 55 cents a mile, call me and I will stop by and bring you a cane a walker and some Geritol because you are going to be there so long you would have forgotten that they said 55 cents a mile.
Good Luck, Don't believe 1/3 of what you see and only 15% of what you read!

I'd be significantly more trusting of a recruiter who is happy to tell you what they WON'T do as opposed to what they will do.

When I talked to my recruiter here and asked her tons of questions, I knew she was honest when she answered certain questions with "No, we don't do that" or "No, that's your responsibility".

She didn't lie to me and tell me that the company would do this and that, or try to satisfy me by saying stuff like "Yeah, they might do that, you'd have to ask." She was honest, to the point, and wasn't pushy.

If a company is completely open about telling you what they won't do, they might be worth a slightly longer look.

I have never talked to a recruiter since I went into the Marines !!! That being said I always go right to the company that I want to work at and talk to the man that does the hiring .

Now before all you get your panties in a wad I know it is old school and we have come out of the dark ages and you can fill out a million applications online now but trust me the good companies still do it old school because they are still old school run !!

I strongly suggest you to the office of any company you are looking at and just walk in and ask to talk to the man that does the hiring and talk to him like you would anyone else . Tell him you are just out of the service and you are looking at his company to see if they are good enough for you to go to work for !!! Don't ask if you are good enough for them ask him if they are good enough for you !!

I promise you will wind up at a better company making more and being treated better if you go to the office in person than you ever will with all your online applications !!!

Remember you never know when they need someone right now and you might just be at the right place at the right time .

The fact that a company has a recruiter to begin with is a red flag to me, (at least in most cases, not all.) Good companies aren't hiring and when they do hire, they don't need a recruiter to go find another warm body to put in a seat.

Everything the recruiter said about my company was true. In fact he even left out some of the great things that I found out once I got hired on.

I asked a recruiter to put what he was telling me in writing. He seemed offended by me saying that and replied "That is not how I work. When we say we will do something, we just do it." I would not expect that it would actually happen based on a verbal statement.
