The way I see it I won't get to reset anymore. I work in food service and most of my runs are at night when traffic is light and daytime only hours would put a real kink in how we operate.
I don't doubt that I'll be recapping every week with my current job. I do have guys at work that are insisting that they still want a reset every week but I just cant wrap my head around it.
In a worse case scenario you'd have to take 51+ hours off to get a reset if our eLog starts our break just after 1:AM on the beginning of it.
I'm not going to do that!!! I'm just gonna recap it and do what I gotta do.
My theory of why this change was put in place??????
Think of how many trucks are going to be hitting the road at exactly 5:AM every Monday morning. Surely this will increase % of accidents and benefits from the trial lawyers. Only then will they be able to make yet another case for further restrictions on mandatory EOBR's and simple 14 hour workday provisions. That's what I think the ultimate goal is![]()
What are supposed to be the benefits of the new HOS? I see none

Maybe I want to run 70 hours in 5 days, take a reset at home and head back out, I don't need some paper pushing, never drove a truck before, beaurocrat telling me how much I can drive and how to run MY business.
Does anyone know that doctors kill more people than truck drivers each year, but have no hours of service. People worry about tired truck drivers, how about a tired doctor?airforcetoo and Lady K Thank this. -
Well now they they can say they did something and commission a million dollar biased study to show it improved safety to justify their existence.
