I think Rick is trying to get you to re-consider the possible benefits of regulation. Truckers shouldn't always see regulation such as Hours of Service as something negative. Granted, there will be situations when they produce unintended consequences. I know that in some cases regulations brought a number of benefits to drivers in the European Union.

I just wish we didn't have a 70 hour rule, no 34 worry then. I'd like to run my 60-70 days straight then take my break at home. Sitting for 34 hours or more at a time puts a hindrance on my driving quota ;)

Wait until those with e-logs log in and see Driving Hours Available - 8 at the beginning of their 14 .

Like the toll dodgers on US20 across IN/OH. The shoulder isn't big enough for a bicycle to pull over.

According to the FMCSA most trucking accidents happen between the 8th and 11th hour with drivers that don't take breaks. Of course there are ones you have to tell them to stop driving 11 hours non-stop so we are all penalized. Hey you 2 gallon bladder dummy, stop and stretch your legs. :)

nothing except yet another far reaching "feel good"policy enacted by big brother.notice the new hos is being put into place regardless of the lawsuits pending.when the ata is onboard with something, they truly hate trucking,it makes one ponder.the ata doesn't like the new hos-

    You're preaching to the choir.

What I'm saying is that there will always be people out there who think being slave-driven is the only way to succeed in the industry. I personally don't see the benefits in working 70+ hrs a week to survive either. If you can't do it in 40, you need another job.

If you paid hundreds of thousands of dollars in student loans and spent 8+ years in school, you would do the same.
