I hope this results in the combination of enough drivers getting po - some of the older drivers considering retirement just call it quits early. Also anyone new looking to get into it now even has less of a reason - and also that it cuts the wages of the already very low paid company drivers even further and that those drivers will leave to go do something else. I hope it all results in truly, not enough trucks to haul the freight.

As destructive to our country as that sounds, I hope something along those lines happens too(or atleast begins to happen so they see what bad decisions can lead to). Our voice doesn't wake them up, so it'll take an even bigger bang.

In no way I meant for it to be a destructive thing ... Just more of something along the lines of, a government orchestrated truck driver shortage. When the store doesn't have any bread and people are in outrage and the media is interviewing people at the store, some of them former drivers, tell them, "well I make more money here bagging groceries than I can driving truck, and with all the ridiculous regulation, I can't make a go of it" .... THAT, I would love to see.

edited: pipe dream, probably .. but I can dream ...

So the solution would be to continue doing slave labor? What benefits come from working 70+ hours a week to survive?

Hmmmm....There are several "Black" Routes in Cali where no trucks are allowed.....Yet....Hmmmm.....4 Wheelers still get into accidents.....Maybe just the thought of trucks on the roads "May" cause 4 Wheelers to get into accidents?......:biggrin_25526:

HOS rules aren't about wages....That's The Teamster's deal to make all of Trucking Union.......Trucking is getting pulled into a million directions because there's a million Special Interest Groups who want to control it....

HOS rules are there to prevent employers from slave-driving their employees. Has nothing to do with safety or wages. Teamsters aren't the only special interest group to push for HOS regulations. The OOIDA has also.
