I am referring to the end result of your statement of 8 hours. I believe the hours were changed in 2003 and I did not mind the incoming rule of 34 hours. The 14 hour window was a pain in the rear which could be lived with.

The 8 hour you mentioned and the end result of this is where I am addressing. 8 hour day in a truck with reduced time to generate the income is going to lead to the forced hourly pay to the industry, in my opinion.

Ah....It's not so bad.....I just plan it out to take my lunch sitting instead of driving.....

If I leave later in the day....I run for a while until supper....That's my break......

Of course if you get paid by the mile I understand.......It does suck......

Tell you what....What the "Powers that be" need to do is let us have the option to take a break and stop the "Clock".....Hell...If we had that option....I'd run about 300 miles and take a two hour nap....

Then "Joanie" couldn't say I was a "Dangerous, Tired, Trucker" anymore....:biggrin_255:

Exactly.....The only way it would work....Is the same way a truncated schedule works in Europe....All drivers run by the hour.....And the runs have to be shorter...

Perhaps also....They might remove all sleepers in Solo operations...Forcing the O/O to not run more than 200 mile radius.....

I'm paid by the mile, and home almost every night during the week. I try to eat when I get home, so I don't have much to do during the break. We also have mostly drop and hooks.

The further deal is will the industry adapt?

Or will it lead to further reduced income to the driver?

I have not even addressed what it will do to the Owner/Operator.

You're saying you don't have time to eat lunch?

No. I like to eat one meal a day. It keeps me from overeating throughout the day. Not to mention I get drowsy after a mid day meal.

You know the megas will adapt....They'll just hire more drivers at lower wages to keep up with the demand....

We have way to many people who live under the illusion that trucking is a "Great way to see America"......Perhaps if you're an O/O like me who can plan my runs and see places that company drivers will never see.....But company drivers run mainly the Interstates.....All they see is the back end of the truck in front of them....The truck stops...And the Terminals.....Yeah...That's the "Real America" they love to dream about right?......

I am pretty much the same.

In fact, I really liked driving a couple of hours then taking a short 15 minute break and doing another couple hours and doing the short break. Keeps me more alert.

Now, I have to drive at least 5.5 hours and then take the break for 30 minutes and the next one 5.5 hours. Just really makes no sense to me.

Humans were meant to be "Grazers"......Myself....I eat about 5 to 6 meals a day.......And I don't gain weight......
